I have a hectic work week but I'll try to post some pictures and videos soon. For now, here's some fun stories for you.
Fun fact, if you check out my Instagram (@Jakethomasc30), my latest pic was taken by Anna Kupp. Yes, Cooper Kupp's wife. I also didn't realize at the time, but she was standing with Brandin Cooks' wife too! She was very sweet. I didn't wanna be that guy who begs for a picture with her, so I stayed cool and just thanked her and said I am a big fan of her husband!
To give you an idea of my weekend, the pre-game Rams party was awesome. It was at the Georgia World Congress Center (which is essentially right next to the stadium), and there was a whole section of "Rams friends and family," hence why I was able to randomly bump into Anna Kupp.
I have a friend who lives in ATL, he's actually a brother to me, so it was great being able to catch up with him. However, I went to the SB by myself, as I couldn't find anyone who'd pay that kind of money to be at the game. I just so happened to see on Instagram that my friend from High School, who I've always liked a lot and got along with, was going to the game with his brothers. He wound up having seats 4 rows behind the Rams bench (Section 114 if I'm not mistaken) and he invited me to sit with him and his family. We got a ton of drinks and food at the pregame party as well! It was great being able to catch up with him and learn about his career in LA. Sadly, he and his family were rooting for the Pats, but they were good sports about it. Really, I can't say anything bad about the Pats fans who I was sitting with; just frustrating to be in a sea of them.
Overall, despite the game, which many will say was bad, I had an amazing experience. Personally, as far as the game goes, I call it one of the greatest defensive chess matches ever. Wade Phillips vs Belichick is really what this game should be dubbed as. They're two of the greatest defensive minds in the game, period. The reality is both teams were shut down on offense, therefore every positive play was completely magnified which made it exciting (at least for the people who were actually there). Despite the poor play on offense, Cooks had two pristine opportunities to change the game, he didn't, unfortunately, and the Pats did.
Oh, and one last thing...
For Belichick, during pregame, to praise McVay (when does Belichick ever say anything nice about anyone, ever?) is huge and should just be one of the many signs that we're still an incredible football team with a Top 4 HC. Sean's learning and will continue to grow. I have faith and although I'm still grieving, I like our chances in the future. We played a TIGHT game against New England, a team who has been in the SB three years in a row. We held our own despite our inexperience, despite losing key guys (and yes I'm referring to Gurley here because I 100% believe he's hurt), and despite some questionable flags.
Love our squad, love our Rams, and I think this is only the beginning of greatness gentlemen. To me, I think McVay will win at least 2 rings and will be our HC for a very long time. GO RAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
