We are hosting, but we're only having three other couples and two of the couples (guys) are Ram fans the other couple loves football (Bills & Commode fans) and know enough when to keep their mouth shut. All of us took Monday, February 14th off and joked that I was taking that day off because I'm a hopeless romantic, but I plan on partying like it's 1999....Here is the menu.

  1. Chicken Wings (Always Need to start with this)
  2. Spanish Artichoke Dip (I don't like it, but everyone else does)
  3. Rib Steaks (The Indoor Grill will be humming before game time of course)
  4. Pigs in a Blanket (We're playing the Bengals we refer to these as Tiger by the tail)
  5. Pizza (just has to be included I will try to be good)
  6. French Fries (Again for others)
  7. Single Malt Scotch (Plenty before, during & After)

I let my dad choose. So since my chili and cornbread didn’t help much the last SB, he wants my ham and white bean soup. I know, boring, but that’s what the man wants. I’m still making the cornbread tho. We’ll probably get some asada and al pastor tacos to hold us downbeforehand.

Drinks: German Rauchbier, and Lagavulin 16 if we win it.

I tried to do the al pastor tacos last super bowl and I failed in that attempt. But I have made paella before so it's not so much of a stress.

My one co-worker will always bring a skyline chili dip when there is pot luck type things at work. I'd be willing to try the spaghetti with chili and shredded cheese as well.

I'll be roasting a 6 lb. boneless leg of lamb, seasoned with a blend of kosher salt, fresh cracked pepper, garlic & onion powder, dried oregano leaves, dried rosemary & coriander.

The side dishes are Colcannon & braised vegetables. To wash it down, a few bottles of Coppola's Bordeaux, his Diamond Claret. There is Champagne for the victory party. Of course, plenty of Stella will be available.

Only 6 people are attending the Super Bowl feast, so the day after, leftover lamb will be cut into thin sandwich slices, kabab size chunks as well as smaller chunks for sandwiches which can be stuffed into pita bread with chopped cabbage & thin cut cucumber mixed with a Harissa/yogurt sauce. I should be set for a couple of days.

Now, the only thing the Rams must do, is :

My Super Bowl menu will be Hungry Howie's Pizza.

Cheese stuffed crust, with pepperoni, hamburger, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms and onions cut in small slices.

pretty good chile
1-1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 or 2 cans Mrs Grimes Chile beans 8oz
1/2 chopped onion
1 small can green chilies
1 can whole tomato's 8 oz
V8 juice
1-2 pkg 0f chili seasoning
1 tablespoon Ranch dressing mix (dry package)

put in crock pot on high
chop hamburger
add Chile powder to your taste

serve with chopped onions and shredded cheese

VIOLA!

If anyone wants an awesome all around seasoning grab some Woodoooboo. I found it off a YouTube content dude named the Wooded Beardsmen. I use it a ton and still have 1/4 left after 2 months.

Cincinnati Chili​

2 pounds lean ground beef
1 quart water, or amount to cover
2 onions, finely chopped
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
4 cloves garlic, minced
(1 ounce) square unsweetened chocolate
¼ cup chili powder
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
5 whole cloves
5 whole allspice berries
1 bay leaf

The cloves & whole allspice berries can sometimes be difficult to find, so give yourself some time put together your ingredients.


Directions​


Place the ground beef in a large pan, cover with about 1 quart of cold water, and bring to a boil, stirring and breaking up the beef with a fork to a fine texture. Slowly boil until the meat is thoroughly cooked, about 30 minutes, then remove from heat and refrigerate in the pan overnight.

The next day, skim the solid fat from the top of the pan, and discard the fat. Place the beef mixture over medium heat, and stir in the onions, tomato sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, chocolate, chili powder, salt, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, cloves, allspice berries, and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 hours. Add water if necessary to prevent the chili from burning.

Tri-tip soaked in Chaka mmm sauce with potato or macaroni salad, beans and French bread. Just the family and I since leaving for Idaho from Roseville Ca. Keeping it simple

I can never get away from Hot wings, stuffed jalapenos, and maybe some steamed oysters. Of course cold cold beer!!!!!!!! Might make a seven layer dip for chips. ANTICIPATION IS MAKING ME WAIT!

I will never eat lamb again. I had it once when I was a child (6 - 9 years old) and didn't care for it.

I'm not going to change my thoughts and start eating a species from the Ram family anytime soon. ;)

I hear many enjoy it and think it's tasty though.

Lamb is obviously very different from beef & chicken, but I can understand childhood aversions, ... maybe a revisit one day. I only prepare it myself once or twice a year, but you'll find it in many Indian, Greek & Arabic restaurants.

I'm Italian so I'm highly likely to try lamb again in my adult life. Lamb kababs actually sound good because shish kabobs of many varieties have been one of my favorite bbq foods.
