whats his contract? was it 3 years? who knows if we retain all 3 backs after next year or keep Harkey. if he's cheap and the teams trending up he might not have to return and retire as an honorary Ram. could get a year or two under his belt. call it wishful thinking but its certainly not impossible.
He's not even that good anymore. His best days are behind him. That would be a bad move on our part

I'll alway be a Steven Jackson fan if for nothing else than the professionalism and effort he displayed with a poor football team during difficult times. He was a leader and set an example to others. I wish him nothing but the best. I don't particularly care about any of the playoff teams(just hoping for some good games) but I am rooting for Jackson.

He's listed as questionable against the Panthers but hopefully, if the Falcons make it, he can participate in their playoff game.

Go Carolina. And screw Steven Jackson. He wanted out so he could play for a winner?
He hasn't been the bell cow and Atlanta has only won 10 games while the Rams have won 13
And Jackson has played in playoff games as a Ram

In all fairness to Jackson--the Rams did not want to pay him the 7 million dollars if they had not allowed him to void the final year of his contract and they were working him out the door anyway with Pead and Richardson. I 'd say this was more of a mutual parting of the ways.

Jackson could easily have been a malcontent on a terrible team but he didn't do that.

A lot of players of his caliber would not have acted so professionally.

Steven Jackson lacked this, he didn't do that, he wasn't as good as ____...

Dude had 8 consecutive 1000 yard seasons on some really bad Rams teams and was the face of our franchise in those dark days.

He's got my respect forever as a player!

Have to say I am an SJ fan. Love that style of play. Deliver the blow! Don't just take it.

He opted out. Wasn't released.

Jackson absolutely has my respect as a Rams great. I'd love to see him become an RB coach here or something, and will feel slighted if he doesn't sign a one day contract with us to retire as a Ram.

All that said, I would not want him back with a regular contract.

I completely disagree. apparently you didn't watch him the other week when he was breaking tackles while going over 100. I watched those highlights. Atlanta is absolute garbage with no line. it's kinda like ppl talking trash about Jackson when he was on the Rams cus the team was garbage and couldn't help him. I never said I wanted him to come in and start but there's no reason he couldn't come in as a committee RB or replace Harkey if needed. I've seen him run and move this year so IMHO that's just not true

I believe SJ would be perfect in the same role Bettis played for the Steelers his last few years. Bring him in, in the red zone and when you just want to grind out the game.

I can't believe there's people turning against Jackson after all he gave us, pretty much bring our entire team for years.

It was pretty damn obvious Fisher wanted to go another direction, which didn't include Jackson. Jackson could have sat around, bitched and been a little bitch trying to get his money. Instead he picked up his britches and moved on like a big boy to try and achieve his childhood dream. He left with grace and had nothing but respect for the organization. Same can't be said for a lot of guys who realized they were being outmoded.

He has my full respect and well wishes and I have a hard time wrapping my head around why anyone doesn't.

I agree, even for the vet minimum and I think the world of SJ. But he needs to hang them up after this year.

Well we will have to agree to disagree because I don't see any room with Mason, Tavon, Cunningham, Stacy tuning the Rock. No need to take carries from them. Hell the main 2 that run the ball is Mason and Tavon Cunningham. No way would I get rid of Harkey for a old Jackson. We are good at rb

He was slipping before he left the Rams. He is no longer a feature back but he still is a load to bring down.

I'd take him back for a look at being a 3rd down back for the reason he can flat pass block and is sure handed receiver that fights for every yard.

And for what it's worth. If the idiots we had for coaches had gave him more than 11 touches against the 29th rank run defense in that win and in game against the Seacocks he would have had a playoff experience then.

I think you're missing my point. my point was simply nobody knows who will be here after the 2015 season. I'm not comparing players at all just pointing out possibilities if someone leaves and unless you have a crystal ball you don't know who will still be there either. and speaking of Stacy, not like he's got anything Jackson doesn't

For 1 he's younger. None of our Rb are free agents after this season so why would they leave. If we did trade a RB I would hope we didn't sign Jackson. Only reason we need to sign him is for a day contract so he can retire a ram imo
