Steven? He's still a great guy...
Of course he is. But I don't care to hear about his exploits in Atlanta ... nor do I want to see a #GoFalcons show up on my screen under his Twitter account. For all his talk about wanting to see it through, and wanting to be here when we turn it around because of all the work he put in, it was all bullshit. He wants to go where the dollar is, and he wants to *try* to go out a Champion.

Karma sometimes requires you to wear a flak jacket, Steven. #justsayin'

I'm pretty bummed about this. I think y'all know I was a big SJ fan. The thing that gets me is that I honestly feel we have a better chance at the next SB than ATL. Oh well. He will likely finish his career here with some stupid 14 day contract or some shit. I'll welcome him back at that time. Until then he's just another player now.

Good luck to SJ39, but ATL 's D has to get better. The O can score, but that still can't stop the scoring on them.

Well, if not the Rams... I will root for SJ in Atlanta.

I haven't seen the terms, unless I missed it... but we'll never really know how it went down in St. Louis.

I'm a little shocked, to be honest.

I think taking Pead in the 2nd last year helped the decision along, even if he didn't really play. With him and Richardson, we just need a power back, and Ganaway might be that guy. Don't be surprised if we don't draft a RB.

Ditto.

I'm not downplaying the value of a good running back... but if we nail down the offensive line (adding Long); I believe we can make an average back into a very good back by opening holes for him.

I'm not saying Pead and gang are average... but I am saying we'll be okay.

Best of luck to Steven Jackson. I bow to him out of so much respect. Words cannot express what a thrill it was to watch his entire Rams career. Through blood, sweat and tears he was the lone constant for the Rams through all the tough seasons. Just a class act and a hell of a football player! He is an inspiration to so many, I among them. Best of luck as a Falcon. Sincerely, a Steven Jackson fan for life

Maybe I am weird, maybe I am different, but you will NOT find me rooting for SJAX on Sundays. Much respect for him thru the years he spent here, but my allegiance lies with the horns. Didnt root for Warner, Bruce, or any other Ram player after they left town, unless of course they were playing against SF or NE. When Sjax retires, then his jersey will be hung in my bar along with Faulk, Bruce and others, but not until he retires from the game

Good stuff, bg.

I'm right there with you.

It's going to be "weird" watching the Rams in 2013 without SJ.

I've never seen a player with more heart and soul to compete than that man.

I get what you are saying.

It's an awkward deal.

I am definitely not going to be "rooting" for him in the same way. I mean, if he does well the Falcons do well. That goes against my goal for the Rams.

But, I hope in some non-impacting-to-the-Rams way the man gets what he deserves. He poured his heart out for our team. I can't turn my back on that loyalty.

Falcons agree to 3-year, $12 million deal with Steven Jackson

By D. Orlando Ledbetter
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/football/falcons-agree-to-3-year-deal-with-steven-jackson/nWr6Q/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/football ... son/nWr6Q/</a>

The Falcons added to their offense by agreeing to terms with free agent running back Steven Jackson on Thursday, according to the team.

Jackson, 6-foot-3, 229 pounds, formerly played with the St. Louis Rams. He voided his contract in order to become a free agent.

His deal with the Falcons is for $12 million with $4 million guaranteed.

"Steven has been on our mind since the days leading into free agency," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said. "We kept a nice cool, calm, collected approach to this. We had a good feeling that we were going to have an opportunity to consummate deal. It was really easy navigating Steven’s agent, Eugene Parker, who was mindful of the approach we were taking in negotiations."

Jackson will be counted on to replace Michael Turner, who was released after spending five productive years with the Falcons.

Jackson, who will turn 30 in July, is considered a better fit for offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter's offense because he's a better pass catcher.

Jackson has rushed for 10,135 yards and 56 touchdowns in the NFL since being taken in the first round (24th overall) of the 2004 draft. He also has caught 407 passes for 3,324 yards and eight touchdowns.

Jackson, who has been to three Pro Bowls, was negotiating with the Green Bay Packers and the Falcons.

Jackson has played on some pretty poor teams in St. Louis and wanted to play for a contender.

The Falcons reached the NFC championship game last season before losing 28-24 to the San Francisco 49ers.

Jackson helped the Rams reached the playoffs after his rookie season in 2004. The Rams beat Seattle 27-20 in the wildcard round before getting pummeled by the Falcons 47-17 in the divisional round at the Georgia Dome.

The Falcons were elated to get Jackson over NFC rival Green Bay.

Earlier in the week, Falcons coach Mike Smith spoke about the franchise’s status around the league, which also was a factor in attracting Jackson.

“I really think it speaks volume for where we at as a football team,” Smith said. “Mr. (Arthur) Blank talks about it all the time. I talk about it and it comes from Arthur about being a releveant team. Thomas has done an outstanding job with providing us with players.

“We know that the roster changes every year, but we are a relevant football team in the National Football League. What I mean by relevant is you want to be in the conversation at the end of the season and having an opportunity to play in that second season because that’s what everybody is shooting for.”

By coming to the Falcons, that’s what Jackson is shooting for.

Good luck to SJ39. I'll root for him every game unless it hurts the Rams playoff chances or the game itself is against the Rams.

He deserved to play on a more competitive team. He gave it his all. 8 consecutive 1,000+ rushing yards' seasons with only one playoff appearance.

Good luck, SJ.

There's a HUGE FUCKING HOLE in the Ram's backfield tonight. You can roll Pead, Richardson, and Ganaway in a big ball and it would fall out of SJ's jock strap!!!! Falcons got a friggin steal for $4M a year, a steal. No doubt about it, the Rams will have to spend an early draft pick on a RB because no FAs out there that measure up.
