As this is what you think will the Rams will do rather then what I'd do, whether by trade (up or down) or by falling to 26:
1. Loveland
2. Golden
3. J.Simmons
4. M.Taylor
5. Amos
I’d love Golden or Loveland. I’m assuming they are gone by R1.20. If not put them at top of list.

I'm going to do it for different positions in the top five:

1. Luther Burden. (I don't think Egbuka or Golden make it to our pick, which is one of many reasons why I'm picking Burden.)
2. Shavon Revel Jr. (My favorite corner in this class, Will Johnson aside, and Johnson's not falling to us.)
3. Colston Loveland. (If his medicals drop him to #26, jump all over him. I still think he's going to possibly go higher, which is why I have the others on top.)
4. Carson Schwesinger. (Bold pick, but scouts have been saying he's a surprise first. Does everything really well, reminds me a bit of Kuechly.)
5. Donovan Ezeiruaku. (Only at the fifth because of the position he plays, but if he's there, and we like him, I hope we pull the trigger. Reminds me of a younger Robert Mathis.)

I’ve got Golden to Denver and Loveland to the Chargers.

I feel like what the Raiders do at #6 will be a trigger point. IMO they should trade down if possible.

He's been my favorite corner also, but, him not running a 40 and having a bad short shuttle has me a bit worried. I feel like it might have some in the NFL worried also. Add in the injury concerns.

I'd be pumped about either of the first 2 you listed. I know some aren't crazy about Burden but he's definitely got top notch talent as far as YAC goes. Revel to me would add speed and length that we don't have anywhere near on defense. I also love the fact that any tape you watch on him, he's making some great tackles in the run game.

Loveland at 26 would be a gift. Mason Taylor at 26 would be a gut punch. Ferguson would be a kill shot.
Whatever logic rabbit hole you'd have to go down to make yourself okay with Taylor or Ferguson(!) at 26 is exactly what we've been avoiding to draft as well as we have been.

If your guy at tight end isn't there you move around the board to another position and take the best player available.

Good chance Ferguson or similar will be there at 90.

A healthy Revel has been compared to Antonio Cromartie. But his health is in question, to the point that he’s considered a second round talent. That’s risky.

Then Tua doesn’t count ? I believe he makes more dough? The Rams had a chance for Jalen Hurt & took Cam Akers instead.
Jalen would drive McVay up a wall. McVay would lose his shit having to live outside the numbers.

Good QB - sometimes great - with big limitations. Those factors can co-exist.

1. Mason Taylor, TE, LSU. I think this dude is a fit for a role McVay has struggled like hell to fill. Adding a TE of Taylor's quality behind Higbee would mean Higs plays the inline role and Taylor is used as primary slot threat and I would imagine we see a boost in 12 sets as a result. His draft spot value is probably early round 2, so this would be a reach but the Rams have been stoned two years in a row trying to move up for TE and now have lost Kupp who was effectively a receiving TE in this offense.

2. Terrance Ferguson, TE, Oregon. See above. Even bigger reach than Taylor would be, judging from most big boards out there, but again you get size and athleticism, hands and upside for a role that has eluded McVay for too long.

3. Malaki Starks, S, Georgia. Steps into the defense day one in our primary pairing and adds an ability to do a bit of everything. That flexibility I think will be valued by Shula. And I think it improves our back end significantly to have a safety with real skills in the pairing, as opposed to another box type who limits calls.

4. Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss. Keep seeing Dart listed higher than makes sense for a guy who needs a redshirt. So he feels unlikely, however what the fuck do the mock creators really know. Really this could just as easily be any QB the Rams like sitting there at 26, as it is that range where you get the 5th year option on a QB project. But Dart is a guy I would go out of my way to pair with McVay. Nothing against the other options like Shough, Milroe, McCord, etc., but I would move up for Dart if he gets close.

5. Trey Amos, CB, Ole Miss. Look I would love to list Barron here but it is very hard to imagine him being on the board at this point. Corner is a massive need for the Rams. In Amos you get good size, sufficient athleticism, and the secondary feels a ton better right out the gate in this draft.
C'mon man, we know who we really want! Come home, Ashton!

I think there are prospects with bigger upside but I am sure McSnead wants a solid high floor prospect at around 26.

OT Josh Simmons - If Jack/Hav go down your season is gone.
OT Kelvin Banks - See above
TE Loveland - Could have a dynamic year 1 impact with Mcvay.
CB Jahdae Barron - Could be a huge upgrade at area of need.
LB Jihaad Campbell - See above.

Note: All these players might require a small move up but I think wheeling Snead might do it.

If the Rams move back a bit I wouldn't mind Burden or Revel.

Here's the updated count of each player:

  • Trey Amos: 8
  • Emeka Egbuka: 8
  • Jihaad Campbell: 6
  • Jahdae Barron: 6
  • Josh Simmons: 4
  • Jaxson Dart: 4
  • Matthew Golden: 4
  • Mason Taylor: 3
  • Starks: 3
  • Kelvin Banks: 1
  • Milroe: 2
  • Conerly Jr.: 3
  • Revel Jr.: 3
  • Luther Burden: 2
  • Hairston: 3

If you need any further analysis or insights, feel free to let me know!

Were you pounding the table for Hurts? Plus Kiffin left for Ole Miss in 2019 & Tua was drafted in 2020.

Best available:
J Simmons - OT
O Hampton -RB
N Emmanwori - SS/NB
K Grant - DT
E Egbuka - WR

Of these I prefer:
OHampton if they go offense.
N Emmanwori if they go defense.
I really like these picks, especially in that order. Simmons, future fixture at tackle, starts on the right before moving to the left side. Hampton, immediately makes this offense much more explosive. Emmanwori could develop with Kinchens to make a great safety room. Grant, luxury pick as he would add to the fronts strength, Ala Eagles move. Egbuka, safe floor, high ceiling to take over from Adams in 26 or 27.
