I just don’t get how Cousins name seems to come up here every year. Not only no - but HELL NO!
Hes a back up with a ton of experience and in this case McVay was Cousins OC in Washington for three years.
So, a lot of familiarity there.
I would put the odds at a trade for him as slim, thankfully.
When a starter or two goes down during the season you will hear Cousins and Jimmy G's name mentioned as possible trade partners if a team needs a starter.

D’Marco was extremely adamant today on radio that Stafford would be the Rams starting QB week 1. Saying the only way he would not be is if he has new a setback.

Not sure how much of that was his belief in Stafford as a warrior…versus true insider knowledge of staff’s back/injury status. Sure hope it’s the latter.
We saw how Stafford has been affected by injuries in the past. He is tough as nails, but, if it meant starting Jimmy G for the first month to get Stafford right for the rest of the season I would take that approach.

Cousins would not even be better than Bennett imo
Bennett has had one good preseason game against back ups for the most part.
Cousins has 43,000 passing yards and a career passing rating of 97.4.
Physically Bennett may be better, but, thats it and in reality, that isn't much unless the mental side comes with it.

I mean, even if Cousins was a tad better than Garappolo…Jimmy has been here with the playbook for a year and is here in camp getting a ton of reps with starters.

It would be very one step forward two steps back to move off of that at this point.
This is really the key to me.
The Rams would have to eat some of Cousins salary as well....so, spending money on a guy (who also has $10M guar next year) that the team ultimately doesn't want to keep doesn't make sense.

...And Cousins carries a $25M plus cap hit, Bennett is about a million.

BTW, If it comes down to Cousins or Bennett playing, we are no longer playing for a ring. So at that point get a higher draft pick for more ammo to go get our future QB.

I carry a cap hit of nothing, but, you don't want me throwing the ball around.
I get what youre saying, but, in terms of being able to count on a guy, Im sure coaches would look at that as no contest.
This whole thing with Cousins got started in the media because of his tie to McVay, thats it.
Looking forward to and hoping Bennett continues to play well this week.
