Michael Lombardi said on the Pat McAfee show that the Rams would LOVE to trade Stafford and KNOWS for a fact they've called teams about trading him.
 
Wow, if true, that is a shocker. WTF are their plans at QB then? LJax? ARod? G-String? Doing whatever they can to get up to one of the rookies?

Also, what kind of return could Stafford possibly get and how much dead cap (I'd assume a lot).

Unfortunately, other teams know that and so I'd think we'd get pennies on the dollar for him.

One of the last people I'd consider a good source of information would be Michael Lombardi. Not saying it isn't true but that guy is barely one step above random fan blogger when it comes to credible info.

He'd probably get like a 3rd RD pick.

Looks like there's be a negative cap savings. So it seems to be a bunch of BS.

And like Psycho said, you have to really pick and choose what Lombardi says.

I'd normally dismiss it but the Rams front office seems to be intent on making many moves that make no sense this off season, jettisoning many expensive players that would actually free up minimal cap space but render the roster noncompetitive, which would deliver nice cap savings if cut just 1 year later. If you believe the rumours, that is. So who knows. There is enough smoke there might well be fire. But we were also told by many sources - quite a few of them credible - that Sean McVay was leaving... so who knows.

I will always appreciate what Mcvay has done as the Rams headcoach but if he doesn't see this rebuild/reload through I'm sorry to say that I'll lose a lot of respect for him. Though I'm not sure why he would agree to make this his last year with the Rams knowing it's a cap clearing year only to leave the following year when they are expected to have more cap and to make another run. That alone makes me doubt his departure after this season but if he does leave then it won't look good on him to my eye atleast.
