Great interview. Number one thing that jumped out to me was Stafford saying Drew Brees told him going into last season he thought Stafford was about to have the best 5 year stretch of his career. He said that motivated him and kind of changed his prerogative about what’s possible as an aging QB. He said he’s going to keep taking it a year at a time but as long as he’s physically capable of playing at a high level, he’s going to keep playing.

There is an Elite mental level QBs get to when they are 38 years old that they don't have 5-10 years prior. Stafford is in that rarified air of knowing what to do in his sleep. Yeah as long as he physically holds up we want him.

I really like that show. CL does a great job of not only interviewing but just being a normal guy while doing it. He's not putting on some persona or TV voice. He's just Chris Long shooting the shit about his favorite sport.

Definitely. He’s interviewed McVay a couple times and done a great job.

Man, it sure sounds like Matt's not planning on retiring anytime soon. He won't commit to after this year, but reading between the lines it sure sounds like he's open to playing in his 40's. Lol, I feel for Ty Simpson if that's the case. He might be in his upper 20's by the time they're ready for him to take the reins.

I like that Stafford has no desire to retire NOW, but acknowledges that he has to take it year by year and that is the fair for all parties. It makes the annual contract thing a formality.
When he’s ready to retire, he’ll let them know and the org won’t be overextended or too heavily invested for the future based on him being there.

I would hope that now, being in LA, that they will normally be able to attract good players and top level coaches. Especially with the Kroenke's running the show.

What a huge development in the history of this franchise that Kroenke first joined as a minority owner and then bought them out completely after Georgia died. Thats why they are now in LA and are back to being one of the glamor franchises.

St Louis was always going to be a case where maybe you catch lighting in a bottle for a few years every 15 or 20 yrs. That shouldn't be the case in LA where they should be a very relevant franchise more often than not.

Stafford is being very fair to the Rams. He could easily ask for a guaranteed 100-150 million dollar contract that would handcuff the Rams with a lot of dead cap money for several years when he retires. In fact... if AD comes back... I hope he remembers that the Rams still had him on the books for like 20-25 million for 2 years (IIRC) after he retired and gives the team a little break this time around.
