The ability to create off schedule and the ability to throw down the field is going to be a treat. Can't wait.

Yeah I love to see on-field leadership by QBs. Hugely underrated part of the position IMO. It's gonna be funny to see him settle in and these guys adjust to that lol. They aren't used to being called out on shit.

In general for my QB position I prefer outgoing types in terms of personality too. Stafford is one cocky MFer and in my book that's a good thing.

Stafford makes Goff's arm look average. In that clip Memphis posted, threading needles in the RZ from the pocket. The boot stuff will be there, but McVay needed more from in the pocket.

Have never paid any attention to Stafford before today
and that is the first thing to jump out.
It really shows up when he is making throws while off balance.
He also has a hell of a side arm too. lol

He looks a lot more mobile than I remember. And, he puts the ball on the receiver! Not to discount some great catches too.

This is a really good write up of Staffords strengths and weaknesses with video clips interwoven. Good read imo.

Really helpful article and set of clips. I love Stafford’s ability to change his delivery (wicked side-arm throws) and feel for the pocket. The off-balance throws are really impressive too.

One thing I noticed in a lot these clips that reminds me of our need to improve at C - I know these were just highlight clips but I didn’t see any clips where Stafford felt pressure up the middle. This seems to back up what another poster mentioned in another thread that the Lions OL was actually better than ours this year. Stafford looks good creating off-schedule plays and sensing the pressure from the outside... but this year we saw a lot of bull rushes overwhelming Blythe, leaving Goff with nowhere to step up from the outside pressure.

With that said, I’m really liking what I see.

I like Brett Kollman's work. This video is kind of old, with a misleading title, and about a lot of stuff other than Stafford, but I liked the breakdown at 9:19 :

Thanks for the link. I really liked the breakdown, especially the one against the Giants on 3rd and 2. Very subtle ways that Stafford understands how to manipulate defenders with his eyes AND his delivery, along with recognizing the coverage.

In Goff's first interview as a Ram, I was disappointed with his demeanor. I also prefer a more charismatic type of leader that can motivate with energy.
