I think it's important to recognize that the last two teams to release new uniforms EFFED UP good looking uniforms. It's not that social media is going to unilaterally hate any new design.

Old Jets uniforms (clean and classic):

New Jets uniform (not the worst look but a big dropoff from the previous):

Won't get into the Bucs which I linked up last time we discussed this. But sticking with the Jets as an example of a good redesign, when Parcells and company led that last redesign 20 years ago they did a great job going from this look to the clean and classic look above (so all redesigns are not bad, in fact some are excellent and some straight-up suck):

you are not helping me feel better...the top Jets uni was awesome...they screwed it up bigtime...I was born in Jacksonville, I can get on the Minchew bandwagon if this goes badly

There are good examples of uniform changes but they seem to be in the past lol. The Broncos going from the D helmets to their current look, the Patriots from the hiking ball dude to their current, the Bucs going from their creamsicles to the pewter & crimson originals they just recently screwed up. And so forth and so on.

IMO the key is improvement without overdoing it. Simplicity tends to be the key. Look at the 9ers changing their look in the 90s for example, going from a classic and clean look to a ridiculous "modern" spin:

But fortunately for their fans they went back to their classic look:

Vegas Ram before...

I cannot understand why someone/anyone would think the Rams (Demoff) would fuck up our uniforms.
Based on what exactly?
All his (and SK’s) previous mistakes?
Bad GM/Head coaching hires?
Bad drafting?
Shitty new stadium?

Seriously, why so negative?

Years of total shit, and I do mean shi, and t 6 years later (after SK), we win the NFC West, and then the NFC, and some are on here “just knowing they are going to fuck up our Unis”.

The unis will be fine.

Personally I like the blue and yellow throwbacks, but would LOVE them with white jerseys, not a huge fan of the blue. Hope they don’t go matte on the helmets, but not that big deal.

I hope to see more blue and white but to be honest, I’m going to lose zero sleep over uniforms.

Respect and honor the past but continue to move into the future.

The Jets example in this thread though? Yeah that’s bad. I’d be disappointed if we went that route.

This IMO is the best uniform upgrade in the league's history, due to how bad the previous look was vs how amazing the new one was (they really got it right). This is why I always feel the need to mention this as a lesson for teams...

From worst uniforms in the league (to my eye and that's saying a lot given the Oilers and Pats of those eras):

To the best uniform in the NFL (yes it's subjective but still...):

What is really funny too is that even when they hit it out of the park instead of allowing those to settle in as a modern classic they had to F it up...

This is why even though I trust Kevin's judgment... When he acts like new uniforms are a no-win thing in terms of fan approval it concerns me. There are always going to be fans who like the creamsicles, or who like the new Bucs unis. But over time the sales numbers are going to favor simplicity and clean classic looks where things are well balanced.

Look at the Bears. They've had the same uni for what, 40, 50 years now? Or the Packers from the same perspective, even though I hate the color scheme personally they've avoided being a "fidgety franchise" who has to tinker with a look that works...

IMO if you're a team rep who is responsible for a uniform redesign you would do well to look at the history of what works and what doesn't.

Mid 80s uniform change (subtle improvement):

Today:

They have dressed things up a bit but overall keep a clean and simple look IMO.

It's 2019. They're not going back to the 1960's. I hope they embrace the past with improvements. I love how Dodge did that with the Challenger.

You’re comparing Demoff with the Chrysler Corp.....

Iacocca is rolling in his grave

You’re not serious are you?

Considering how proactive the Rams organization is to the uniform changes as well as being receptive to fan feedback (i.e. scrapping the navy blue jerseys and making the royal blue/mustard yellow unis are home jerseys)

I'm quite confident most Rams fans will like the change next season.

sleeves slowly disappeared, lol
That is in part what worries me about the new uni thing. I hope not, but I think that the horns on the sleeves will be gone; they've been getting thinner and smaller since sleeves are getting smaller....a lot of linemen don't have much of them. (Just something for the opposition to grab a hold of).

I really, really hope they don't try to do what the Chargers and now the Jets have done; moving the over the shoulder stripes to basically a 3/4 position....Absolutely HATE that look.

Rams have had over the shoulder stripes since the early '60's. (except for the road blues of that era). I'd like to see them keep that over the shoulder aspect intact, (without the horns if necessary), like the old blue and whites, but in blue and yellow hopefully??

Like this:

Roman gabriel 1.jpg

For the record, I would love to stay with the blue yellow as primary colors, maybe the blue/white as alternates or throwbacks.
