Like I just mentioned in the other thread the scheme calls are different over here. So he will need a little time. If he's really smart then maybe he's already got it all down but I would think he'll need a few more games to have everything down so he's playing and not thinking.

Sony sounded downright depressed in his interview in a Preseason game. Sounded like he felt personally hurt that the Patriots traded him. Hope he's able to adjust and get comfortable and start enjoying himself here.

Hope he realizes he is on a much better team & Organization at this time, a team that badly needs what he has to offer this season.

His chances of landing a nice contract @ the conclusion of this season for a well-seasoned RB with injury issues in his past is right where he is now!

Then to add to the above.......Coming off an SB appearance should increase his value dramatically. Sony has no idea just how lucky he is.

They already declined his 5th year option and if that wasnt enough of a smack in the face, he was somewhere between 2nd to 4th on the rb depth chart and likely not getting much of a chance to earn a big payday in FA next year

Sony Michel had a 3 snaps and carried the ball 1 time for 2 yards.

His pass pro looked like a new player in a new offense.

A little birdie mocked Sony the other day saying the Rams had no confidence in him because he was unable to earn their trust after being on the team for 18 days before kickoff vs the Bears.

The birdie chirped again and said Sony was not up to speed even though had almost 3 weeks to get up to speed.

The birdie explained that the Ravens signed Latavius Murray only 3 days before the Ravens played their first game and he showed out.

The birdie also said the Ravens signed free agent RB Ty’Son Williams 15 days before their first game and he showed out.

This birdie is a fantasy football die hard friend of mine.

He told me we have no RB depth and we are in big trouble if Hendo misses multiple games.

I shrugged and told him to keep playing fantasy because reality will kick in when Sony breaks out in the next few games.

I ended up flipped him off with the birdie and now I'm waiting for Sony to get his carries and show out in the coming weeks.

Heard an interview with Sony a few months after the SB, and Sony was gushing about the Pats, and how grateful he was to the organization, and how glad he was they "took him under their wing", and how he couldn't be happier surrounded by a "great group of guys."

Contrast that with his interview right after the trade to the Rams, and when asked how he was doing, he said, "to be honest with you it's been pretty rough." And then he talked in a "stiff upper lip" sorta way about his obligation to adapt to sudden change.

I agree with you in that if he could look at it objectively, he'd recognize that he'd have a lot more opportunities (and potentially a bigger payday) with the Rams. But just on an emotional level, he sure looked butt hurt about the Pats giving up on him.

I'm also not saying he'll never get over it. Just saying that within the first 48 hours of being traded away from a team he loved, he still seemed personally upset about it.

Not sure why I'm responding, since we can't really settle this debate without asking Sony directly.

I'm not even saying Sony is being "rational" about this-- just saying from his POV, I got the sense he was happy where he was, and didn't see the writing on the wall. Here's an interview with him just a week before the trade, which is entitled" Sony Michel feels more confident heading into year 4." The way Sony was talking, he sure seemed happy to be a Patriot, and he seemed to think he was getting better every year. Maybe in his mind he thought he was going to have a chance to prove he was worthy of being in the regular RB rotation in NE.

And then there's this article right after the trade, where he said he was "surprised" by the trade:

So I agree with you that Sony SHOULD bee happy to be traded from the Pats to the Rams, because his professional prospects are better here. But for whatever reason, IMHO Sony WAS disappointed to be traded. Hurt his feelings. Who knows, maybe he had close friends on the team, or he had a girlfriend in the area, or maybe he thought his prospects in NE were better than they really were. Who knows.

Here's an analogy: it's like when a guy has a toxic girlfriend that just broke up with him. Yeah, maybe he SHOULD be happy about it. But human nature being what it is, maybe it takes the guy a while to realize he's better off.

Sorry if I came across harsh. My point (probably not very well stated) is that fantasy football is fun but as stated is “fantasy”.

Yeah, it's pretty odd that he's the first player in recent memory I can think of that didn't seem excited to be traded to us, but that's a normal reaction to have when a team essentially gives up on you and you have to uproot everything and move all the way across the country at a moment's notice.

After Stafford had the Defense of the Bears freaking out about the pass Hendo had some real good runs. It just goes to show that a good passing game can lead to a good running game. Hendo will be great this season just wait and see.

Michel looks to me like the physical back we've been missing. Don't know what Henderson's status is but I think Michel now has a chance to eat his lunch.

Like to see more Michel power running, with our now more physical oline, and timely third down conversions against Tampa Bay. Keep Brady off the field.

Rams will lose if we have too many three and outs and keep giving the old man chances to get loose.
