There were times he tried to use Brown in that role. I'm not sure the OL as constructed is, outside of Havenstein, a very good straight-power blocking unit.
Agreed. But I'm just talking how this offense looks with a power threat in the backfield. That brief window of having CJ back there... I mean damn. Same thing with Sony when he was rolling for a while.

My point is that McVay prefers the speedy pass catchy guys but his offense looks better with a power back element. Not necessarily power/duo blocking scheme but a back who can mash for extra yards. When he has that his QB has huge windows to throw to with those ILBs filling like crazy because they know if the Rams run on them they are effed.

But we just won a Super Bowl with zero run game so it's hair splitting. I do realize that.

Get off my lawn!
Precisely. :laugh4:

BUT, if our run game had been more effective, it would have been a blowout, imo. As it was, McVay ran the ball a lot because he had to, just not very effective.

Sony was a great much-needed pickup. Glad he found what looks like a good opportunity.

For the Rams, it's mostly about the offensive line being able to open some holes. Good to have RBs that can pass protect as well.
