Baltimore's a desperate team playing at home, it's not a given the Rams win on Sunday. Yes, I'm pulling for Dallas. Cowboys W and Ram W and the division is won. WK 18 becomes relatively meaningless and we can treat it like a semi-bye week if we want. Rest some players instead of risking injury in the 17th game of the season.

No 2 seed just doesn't mean as much without that first round bye.

Wouldn't that be awesome if someone else knocks off GB?? It'd not impossible, they can be had. The shitty Browns almost beat them by a FG so wait till they start playing better teams. They could be gone before the NFC champ game!! I believe!!!!

I heard yesterday that after week 12 we only had 3% chance of winning the division and now we are hoping the Cardinals win to help us out

I disagree. Playing the 7th seed at home is a much easier road to the next round which also would probably be played at SoFi. Also, it would probably mean the Rams would only travel to GB for the championship round if the Pack wins their divisional game. If Rodgers who is unvaccinated gets COVID in the playoffs he could miss their game and in that case they could get knocked off making the road to the Lombardi would go through SoFi and the Rams.

So absolutely I would love to have that #2 seed. That said I wouldn't be heartbroken if the Birds lost. Like I said in another post the 2 and 5 seeds are the sweet spots. IMO 5 is better than 3 or 4 this year.

Case in point:
All things being otherwise equal if Dallas loses and the Rams win out the Rams are the #2 seed and Dallas probably falls to #4. That means the Rams would probably play Philly at home. Dallas would play the Cards again. The Niners would play Tampa.

The Rams are an over match for the Eagles. If Dallas beats the Cards in the Wildcard and the Niners beat Tampa the Niners go to Lambo and the Boys come to SoFi. If the Niners beat GB which is possible if Jimmy G is playing then the championhsip game would be the Rams at SoFi vs the Niners.

If the Rams are the #5 seed they would probably play whoever is the #4 seed likely to be the Cards or Dallas. The Rams would go to Lambo only if they are the only wildcard team to survive the first round. The Niners are playing good ball and could end up going to Lambo while the Rams would probably go to Tampa in round two. This is an example of the more favorable matchups at #5 over #'s 3 or 4.

The bottom line is that the #2 seed offers the potential for the Rams to play at SoFi through the entire playoffs.

Yeah but if Boys lose and Rams beat Balt, Rams would move up from 3 seed to 2 seed.

But if Cards lose, Rams could clinch the West.

An argument could be made for rooting against either team. But I'm inclined to root for Cards to beat Boys so Rams can move up to #2 seed.

Wow, Rams seemed destined for the 5 seed a couple weeks ago, now the 2 or 3 seed is quite possible. Main thing of course is still for Rams to keep on winning
But if the cards win out and we lost to the whiners on the last game, we're back to a wild card status. Actually a tie would be perfect.

The seeding is not determined yet and there is no assurance of whom the Rams would play in the first round no matter where they end up.

The advantage to having the no 2 seed in the past was sitting out the wild card round. You had a week to scout the playoff field and to get some players back healthy. The NFL added two teams into the playoff field specifically to reduce that advantage. They wanted more parity. It doesn't matter how lame your first round opponent is. Having to play an extra playoff game takes away the advantage the no 2 seed once held. Now there is very little distinction between #2, 3 and 4.

"Favourable matchup" thing is a myth in the playoffs. You don't get to choose your opponent. The most likely scenario at this point is the Rams would have to win two playoff games on the road to get to the Super Bowl. That's the consequence of going winless in November.

GB is destine for #1 so it wouldn’t be over them it would be over the Cowboys.

Eggles lost Stanley so might be a little less potent, I don’t think they can beat Dallas.

Who have the Cowboys played? Bucs first game of the year, might as well have been a preseason game, teams are nothing like they started.

Giants, WTF and soon Eagles twice. Cards might be their toughest game all year.
So going on the road to play them might not be to bad either.

I still can't get over how getting to 8-8 was such a task to accomplish. Now we're talking about which seed we should settle for? Hope this shit continues for years!

I don't know which seed. I'm just gonna sit back and hope for wins. Let the other stuff fall into place.

I think i wrote last week that what ever 2 teams goes to the superbowl will go unbeaten up to the big game. We can't lose another game and expect to go. We could obviously but we won't. So it dosen't matter who we play, because if we can't win every game starting last week and we did, then we won't go. We can go all the way. I'm a little concerned about what qb shows up. Hopefully he can have a nice streak of winning football. No losses. Go rams.

I agree but I’d really like to get that 2nd position.

The way the Rams are coming together, I don’t think there is a team in the league who can beat them when they play a clean game.

The key will be the QB position. How long can Stafford play, and what will be the succession plan?

We forget what it was like wading in the pool of journeymen QBs & failed rookie QBs.

Pittsburgh is about to hit that reality. So McVay & Snead need to have that in the back of their minds, maybe starting in the 23' draft... Grab a developmental QB each yr until you find a guy that has a shot.

If they fail then we hit that 8-9 world.

I wanted to give you an "ouch" emoji but didn't want to affect your posting standings (silly, I know).

What I mean is in response to your post is, OUCH that would truly suck to go 8-9! Been there, done that along with the 7-9 bullshit!

I want to see a winning record every year for McSnead! Regardless of playoff appearances, just make us winners!

Well, key will be the QB... It's that simple. As long as they can put a quality QB on the field McVay will win 10 plus games.

So hopefully Stafford can play at a high level for 4-5 more yrs and then they need to have a plan for who's next.

Ideally we could get greedy and root cardinals and make the last game of the year mean something. I will be happy with the division title and then beat whomever is in front of us.
As much as we would love to knock the whiners out if we had the chance.... could you imagine how much the whiners would relish in cementing there playoff spot while ripping our division title away from us good lord that would have all of us in a bad bad place lol

One late Christmas present maybe more of a couple of stocking stuffers is to lay out debo-zo Samuel and just burn ward over and over trash talking losers!!!

I’m rooting for Arizona. The Rams will take care of themselves. The NFC East is a dumpster fire other than Dallas and Philly won’t beat them. This is our only chance to move to the 2 slot.

I'm never pulling for a division foe to win in the regular season. It's just how I feel about it. I mean, I hate Dallas just as much, but screw the Cardinals all the time. It might seem shallow, but I don't put too much thought about who we are playing and where in the playoffs. I'd like to think we can give them all a run for their money, or what are we doing there in the first place.

The goal is the same each year,
Step 1- Win the division, when division crown becomes unattainable, acquire playoff spot
Step 2- Win playoff game
Step 3- Repeat step 2 until champion
Champions dont worry about which road is easier, they play who's on the other side of the LOS.
I cant root for the Cowboys, frankly I'd love for them both to lose. In lieu of that, I'd be real happy with the Rams having the NFC West crown sealed tomorrow night
