I Do not understand why he is still on the team.
He was a fifth year senior.
Coming out of college he had below average hands.
Whose production dipped anytime he faced man coverage.
Struggles to adjust to balls thrown slightly off target.
Struggles with poor pad level and hand placement when blocking
at point of attack.

And Merlin I have a special surprise for you. Here is a clip of Hopkins playing inline.
Please do yourself a favor and play the video at half speed or slower.
I could have sworn I saw a paddy-cake game.

Lined left up tight inline

In fairness he did block........his own O lineman who then pushed him out of the way :woozy2:

Quick exercise in roster management: Let's say Desean Jackson goes, but we pick someone else up at the trade deadline. That's a wash. But what about Darious Williams coming back, possibly as early as this coming week ... Who do you cut from the 53?

Now, maybe Tutu goes on the IR, so you think there may be room there ... Nope. I doubt it. Without Tutu and Desean no longer there, we likely pull up Koski (let grab another receiver, like Trishton Jackson. So, again, who do we cut?

Gotta be Hopkins at this point, don't you think?
He's undoubtedly in that conversation when the staff has it.

Wolf may be too. I just don't think McVay is going to be patient with his backup being careless with the ball when he just dished a guy they paid for the same thing. Especially since Perkins is a younger and bigger version of him.

Wolf's thing was being a smart guy off the bench who you don't have to change too much. Guy who can compete and move the chains. But the offense now has grown beyond him I think and he's also been playing poorly. He might be more expendable.

When D.Williams comes back, Tyler Hall will likely return to the Practice Squad.
This is just my opinion, but I don't expect another WR to be added, not with Skowronek, Harris & Atwell waiting in the wings, plus our own Landen Akers & JJ Koski are sitting on the P.S.
If the Rams trade for someone tomorrow, I suspect it will either be an ILB, FS, CB or TE.
jmo.

I don‘t expect a WR added either.

Deayon and others have looked good, but CB/FS feels most likely to me.

Cut Wolf. Promote Perkins. Problem solved.

What a complete no-show he's been. Looked disinterested and unable to block at all.

I don't see him having a future on the Rams.

My "softer than a baby sea otter's ass" quote deserves mention here. I'd even go so far as to say it belongs on the ROD quotes thread.

Look at Blanton, who is balling out, blocking people even though he wasn't originally a blocker at his first college game, catching passes with the safeties right there to nail him.

Contrast Hopkins. I get the feeling when Harris is healthy, Hopkins is gone.

I got a bad vibe from Hopkins right after the draft when he was asked about his drops and acted irritated like he could not understand why they would even be a problem. So my guess just based on that is that the guy isn't fully in mentally. Because he's definitely talented enough to dress and be felt on the field by now if his head was on straight.

Up until the point I actually see Hopkins doing good things on the field he's a bust who is holding on to a roster spot due to draft status. Unfortunately that draft evaluation matters and tends to hang around on players longer than it should in this league.

We all saw the reason why Hopkins can't get on the field, and it's simply because he can't block.

Yep, no mystery as to his missing presence unless. Give him props for getting up and at least touching his guy to let Stafford throw the bomb to Jefferson but he only had to because he totally biffed it before the play even got started. It's a shame. TE is definitely a high priority this offseason I would think with Harris not being a TE realistically.

Blanton made that play, no?

I don't understand the question... you implying Blanton making one play gives you confidence he can be a heavily relied on TE2 next season? Sure he had a nice game so props to him. He's also signed through next season so yes he will have a shot. Mundt is on a one year deal, Hopkins is useless so far, Harris is not a TE, and Higbee has been dinged up a lot. So unless Blanton balls out the rest of the season, and he might, TE is a high priority imo.

Um.. No?
Was just pointing out Hopkins didn’t do that.
I’d put Blanton at TE3 and bring back Mundt probably.

My bigger point is Hopkins has been useless.

Oh I see what you meant, I misunderstood... was it Blanton on that play? I thought it was Hopkins... could be (probably) wrong.

Hopkins has been a waste from the jump, and the TE room on this team is really weak
Higbee thank god has 2 years left, but other than that the situation is bleak. The fact that we are lamenting the loss of Mundt shows how bleak the situation is.
Harris was fun in TC/PS, but McVay already made it clear he was a WR. Blanton is a JAG, Hopkins is hopeless, that Tim Tebow effort of a block was embarassing
