I have posted about this place in the food porn thread but I just found a new appreciation for it.

My wife commented about an armadillo behind the bar. When I looked, all I saw was these bobbleheads.

This place is great and run by a really fun - I assume by watching her interaction with her staff - early 30's owner.

If any of you are ever in Reno, you need to check out PJ's.

BTW... I don't know the owners, nor do I have any fiscal stake in the place. It's just a damned good breakfast (and maybe other time) place. PXL_20211218_182843159.jpg

Good recommendation, we'll check it out. We always eat at midtown and highly recommend 2 chicks, full belly deli, and Sabrina's.

2 chicks is really good. Full Belly... Hit and miss... Never tried Sabrina's.

Have you tried Kauboi Izakawa? If you do, try to sit at the end of the bar where you can watch them cook. Pretty cool

And order the pork belly ramen. You have to like fatty decadence though. Possibly the best ramen I've ever had.

BTW... When are you coming back to town? I seem to remember we were going to try to get together.

We live a block off midtown. Let me know and we'll meet you somewhere.

My favorite breakfast was any place with a buffet. For some reason they are harder to find in recent years.

With two young daughters it's a bit more difficult to travel, but I would guess we'll be out there next spring or summer if you want to hang out and grab a beer.

If you ever make your way down the hill into greater Sacramento let me know as well. That invitation is open to other ROD members as well.

I just will never understand starch covered soggy starch for breakfast. Makes my skin crawl.
It's nice on occasion but not as a regular item. For me the hang over cure is a good chili and cheese omelette/scramble with a coke.

Love a great breakfast. As much as people say who can screw up eggs and bacon, breakfast seems to be the most often poorly executed meal. The Griddle in Hollywood was my favorite breakfast but C19 got to it. I hear they are ghosting out of Yamashiro now.

Ah so your out of Reno? I had assumed, due to your name, you were in my neck of the woods (Oregon). Assuming you were at one point?

I lived in Oregon for 30 years. I'm in Reno now.

I can only assume you‘ve not had “the good stuff”… Then again, its not for everyone.
I've had what was supposed to be some of the best. But you're right. I couldn't call it "the good stuff". I think you must have to be massively stoned to eat that shit.

I would like to chime in on the Biscuits and Gravy discussion.

In my humble opinion, Biscuits and Gravy is just like Corned Beef Hash. Most places do not execute it well; and it’s often not good. Sometimes it’s horrendous.

Buuuut … when well executed, oh my god!

There are dozens of places in Manhattan that serve B&G. I have found just one that’s great.

There’s hundreds of places in Manhattan that serve CBH. I have only two go-to-places where I order it. My knees buckle.

All you Non Southerners just need to stay the hell away from biscuits and gravy.

That way there'll be more available for me. Ya bunch of weirdos.

Most restaurants shouldn't even have B&G on their menu.
It's tasteless garbage when done wrong.

When made the proper way, the way I do it at home, it's amazing.
