Youre probably being too rational. Still more than a half season ahead of us and we want the hope of getting 1st place in the division to stay alive lol.
Sure i get that but tonites outcome pushed the Rams further down the conference standings. Literally from 6th to 7th.

I'm good with Arizona winning. I think we can beat them twice. Russell Wilson makes me less certain we can beat Seattle twice. Maybe I'm underestimating Arizona, but I still don't fear that squad.

Vance Joseph called the game of his life.

John MiddleKauf (a former 49er scout turned podcaster on Cowherds network) talks mad shit about how bad vance is. Must be eating his words right now.

The OT of his life? Sure. His team still gave up 34 points.

If the Rams lose tomorrow we're down into the Lions, Panthers and Eagles crowd in the NFC seeding and San Fran will have the #7 seed.

AZ losing was a better scenario.

I know a tie would have been better for the Rams but, having the shitcocks lose a game is way better at this point in the season than being in a better position in the NFC west with them with a tie.

Now, we must win tomorrow night, things will look a lot better then.

Time to go back to my casual drink of Johnny Walker Black.....tomorrow night it's
Laphroaig.

My god.... that was a painful game to watch. Why the fuck did the shitbirds opt to go for the FG on 2nd down???? Total bonehead move that almost cost them the game.

Im cool with it because if the rams lose tomorrow they dont deserve to make the playoffs.

To me it's not about deserving to make the playoffs, we don't even know how good this Rams really team is. All 4 wins against NFC east teams with 2 wins or less. Both "playoff caliber" teams we've faced this year we've lost to, and you can argue whether SF is even playoff caliber and we got beat handily last week.

Now with a very legit Chicago defense tmrw we will see if this Ram's squad is even good or not. Offensively our numbers are trending similar to last year, yet we have a much better o-line and running game..so how does one explain that? Our defense is playing much better than last year too. Our upcoming schedule is far more difficult that what we've played so far. 5 more division games plus TB/ NE.

When was the last time our offense showed up and played a great game vs a good defense? None this year, week 17 last year SF beat us, week 12 last year Bal smashed us..Week 11 last year we beat the Bears 17-10, but the defense won that for us. Goff threw for 173yrs 1 int. The week before that we lost to a Big Ben-less Pit team with a very good defense.

My point is we haven't shown we can beat a good defense in about 1 1/2 years maybe more.. and thats exactly what we need to show tomorrow. We need to come out and be sharp, and show we can compete with these types of physical defenses. We know our division games will be close regardless as we always play SEA and AZ tough, and they dont have good defenses. But IMO our offense hasn't proven it can beat a good defense since 2018 and that's what I want to see.

The Card's base defense is man coverage, but Vance will try to disguise exactly how it's going to be played and he does employ zone coverages as well. I like how aggressive he plays his defense, compared to how Staley's is so damn vanilla. Neither the Hawks or the Cards have much of a pass rush. Offensively I think the Rams matchup very well to both their defenses.

Defensively, both Murray (who has improved) and Wilson will carve up the secondary if Staley continues to play a soft zone. Both teams can run well enough to keep the Ram's from totally ignoring them. The Hawks, Carson is a beast. Both Wilson and Murray IMO pose the biggest threat running. I couldn't help admire how well Vance disguised his rush compared to how poorly Staley's front plays. Staley's blitzes aren't well disguised and he rarely if ever stunts his front. He simply shifts the alignment and that's about it.

I think his alignments are poor and account for some of the lack of pressure the d-line gets. It will be interesting to see if Lewis or Robinson play before the bye week. The potentially could be difference makers, especially Robinson at NT. Playing his NT as a 0T means he needs two good ILBs. Playing a 1T with the NT means he only needs a run stuffing MIKE. A 1T NT will get more penetration as it's a single gap technique. Playing a 2 gap NT makes no sense when the other two DL are playing one gap techniques.

Talent-wise the Rams more than matchup with both the Cards and Hawks. But it comes down to how that talent on both sides of the ball is used. I have no problem with zone schemes if played aggressively. I do have a problem with basically playing a prevent all game long.

The Hawks are a basic zone defense, although they do play it aggressively. But even then we saw how Murray carved them up. The Cards play a mixture of man and zone, although their base is man coverage. The Rams have the WRs to really give them problems and force them into primarily zone, i.e. get them out of their comfort zone. If given time Goff is good enough to carve up the Hawk's zone scheme. One thing is clear to me after watching tonight. The Rams need to score big to beat these two teams as I have serious reservations about Staley's scheme holding up.

That said if Staley needs to take away Hopkins with Ramsey and that will cripple the Cards passing game. Murray's primary receiver is Hopkins to taking him out of the game will impact Murray and he will force throws. The Hawks playing their zone weren't able to control Hopkins so Murray was able to find him on crucial downs. Play man with Ramsey and Williams and zone everywhere else.

The Hawks pose a far greater problem. They have two very good WRs and get good play from their TEs. They have a beast in Carson as a RB. Because they pose a significant run threat then yeah zone is appropriate. But it must be played tight and aggressive.

Yeah if we lose to Chicago tomorrow we don't deserve the playoffs

Agree with this. If they can't show up for this game after bringing nothing last week it shows this team doesn't have it.

If I lived in Las Vegas I would put money on the Rams.

I enjoyed that game.
Was a satisfying ending.
It hasn't made things any easier for us, but so be it.
We made things hard for ourselves by losing to SF.
No way I am cheering for Seattle.
This division is still up for grabs.
Arizona wants it, SF is back in the mix.
We have to go after it too.

We really need tonight's game. A loss has us outside looking in as far as the way too early playoff picture goes (we have the 7th best record, but one team gets in from the NFC Least, so 7 becomes 8 if that makes sense). A win also puts us just a game back of Hags and gives a chance to win the division. If we can't beat the Bears at home in a pivotal early game, I don't see us beating Tampa, Seattle twice, SF, or Arizona twice. This is team that could go 12-4 or 8-8. We'll know a lot after tonight.
