If the Line has jelled in November and is playing well does McVay even want to put Avila or Jackson back in there? It will be interesting to see how they develop as a unit.

Absolutely, you put Avila in. I might be Bruss's biggest fan, but Avila is our most talented offensive lineman. Period. We need more like him, not less.

Still do not get not giving Corum some play out there. RB's do not need a long time to get into the NFL groove, most rookie LB's drafted in the first 3 rounds have played, unless they are injured. Rivers was basically a zero when he was in there yesterday.

And yes, get Rosenbum off the field at all costs.

LG yes. Moment Avila or Jackson return they go to LG.

C no. By the time guys return Limmer will probably be the best option.

Even if they try Jackson again at C by the time the playoffs start it will be Limmer. Not because he is incredible in there. But because he is stable and trustworthy to be up and do the job.

IMO, the plan will be Avila back to LG because they now feel that have their future center in Limmer. It is possible to go back to Jackson at Center, but I concur I believe they will stay the course the the kid who benched 225lbs 39 times at Arkansas.

Yeah I think the moment Avila moved out of C the position was wide open.

Rams hopefully can get out from under Jackson's contract.

Given the lack of talented O-linemen around the league, I wouldn't do it until the end of the year, unless someone gave me a good offer for him. If you could get a third for the contract during the trade deadline, sure.

With all the injuries, Corum is insurance right now and Rivers is playing because of his ability in pass protection. Remember they drafted Corum so if Williams went down, they would have someone ready to step in, Williams is playing fantastic right now and is healthy, so that is the best of both worlds.

I don't think of it as a waste. K-Will can't take every snap. We needed someone similar who could do the same things.

Still, sitting Schrader over Rivers galls me (no offense meant to Rivers, but the fake punt was the first burst I've seen out of him this year). Schrader, I feel, could be a solid teams-player with the ability for a three-down backup job.

I’m excited to see O. Speights get more snaps. Reeder and Rozebloom are two fucking limited, but Reeder did his job great one play last night on that crucial 3rd down.
You guys really have to get off Reeders back. I would think it was personal if I didn't know better

I’d like to see them work Speights in at Rozeboom’s spot. CR is the weakest link
Still no Witherspoon ... and I know he's on the practice squad, but expect him to be elevated at some point.
It’s likely he’s still learning the new twists to the defense and getting in shape. Maybe he was signed as insurance only
Gotta like this "makeshift" O-line:
Ajax - Bruss - Limmer - Dotson - Havs
Bruss may just get hisself a nice FA contract outta this.
Limmer? thank you Lord. He's not moving.
Avila comes back, put him back in for Bruss.
JJax.... I dunno bro... I don't think Limmer is moving. But if we gotta do it, cuz we spent all that dough on him, JJax goes back in as C. Limmer waits in the wings until (God forbid) something happens.

That's a lotta beef, and we're 2-deep on the O-line for once.
After years of begging for five quality starters now we see 7 or 8. It warms my heart. I hope it stays this way. I wonder if Wendell’s input in scouting pro and college has helped or did they just get lucky.
Long making a case for more playing time. Good blocker in two tight end sets
McVay praised Hunter Long’s blocking last year. Barring injury it seems we will keep seeing him out there.

Play the best five. I expect both Jackson and Avila to be on the line when healthy. People forget that Limmer is a rookie. Going into the playoffs you want your best and most experienced in there.

He’s a rookie. He likely needs Pass Pro work. If the Rams ever get a comfortable lead, I’m guessing we will see him play. He played versus Arizona once the game was out of reach. He had some nice runs too. I’m happy that they’ve got some great depth at RB, but prefer not to need it.

Why? I’ll give you the Lions game he played pretty good but for the most part.

Reeder has played pretty freaking shit with a play or two mixed in that was a good rep.

He consistently starts with the wrong foot, plugs the wrong hole or gap, takes bad angles, attacks with the wrong shoulder taking on contact, isn’t aggressive with his hands against a blocker, and that’s not including when he’s in coverage, which is worse than his run game fundamentals. Which shocks me considering how long he’s been in the NFL.

The average fan who doesn’t know even the basic fundamentals of positions looks at his play that last stand on third down ( where I have to add with all the lack of playing fundamentals throughout Sundays game he put together a beautiful play) He’s just not consistent and in the NFL consistency is the key or you get replaced.

He plays good when unblocked, which is about 5% of the time

IMO, Reeder is just the current whipping boy. He didn't play badly against SF - I'd say he was about average. It's Rozeboom who needs to be replaced immediately.

I’m guessing that his intelligence and experience is the only reason he’s starting. He gets blocked way too often and shedding blocks is LB 101. If he hasn’t been able to do it to this point then I don’t think he will ever develop that skill.

Speights is more physically gifted but I’m guessing that as a rookie he lacks the knowledge to wear the green Dot. I’d like to see him subbed in for Rozeboom a bit to see how he does.

Rozeboom is a given obviously, and honestly Reeder is a decent base defense 2LB when he’s limited in snaps and his role is limited to his strengths.

He scored a 63.7 off grade for the game which is almost about what he is in total (60pff) for a career.

Either he goes unblocked or the blocker can’t get to him fully and he’s decently effective when he doesn’t miss tackles.

This is why he’s the whipping boy, in the E Jones role his lack of attributes are magnified more often as they were only limited beforehand as he was in the Rozeboom role.

The shorthanded Los Angeles Rams pulled off a stunning upset over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon, coming back from a 14-point deficit to win in the final seconds. The Rams wouldn’t have won the game if not for contributions from key role players who were elevated into starting roles due to the team’s various injuries.
Pro Football Focus graded the Rams well in their 27-24 win, with the offense landing five players who graded out at 69.7 or higher. The defense still has some issues to fix but overall, it was a strong performance from Sean McVay’s squad at home.
Here’s how PFF viewed the best and worst performers for the Rams.

Top 5 offense

2173812321.jpg

  • WR Tutu Atwell: 79.3
  • TE Hunter Long: 79.3
  • WR Jordan Whittington: 79.2
  • RT Rob Havenstein: 72.7
  • QB Matthew Stafford: 69.7
Atwell, Long and Whittington were at the top of the list for the Rams on offense, all for varying reasons. Atwell was excellent as a receiver, earning a grade of 79.4 in that area. Long excelled as a blocker in the run game with a grade of 85.2. Whittington was a mix of everything, finishing with grades of 88.6 as a run blocker, 70.0 as a pass blocker and 72.9 as a receiver.
Havenstein allowed just one pressure in the game, which is impressive considering the pass rushers he went up against in Leonard Floyd and Nick Bosa.
Stafford’s grade probably should’ve been even higher when you account for the playmakers he was missing and the pressure he was under. He made one big-time throw and had zero turnover-worthy plays, per PFF.

Top 5 defense

2173798617.jpg

  • OLB Byron Young: 80.6
  • S Jaylen McCollough: 66.4
  • OLB Michael Hoecht: 65.1
  • OLB Jared Verse: 63.9
  • LB Troy Reeder: 63.7
There was Young and then there was everyone else. He was head-and-shoulders better than all other players on defense, recording four pressures, one sack, two tackles for a loss and a forced fumble. Notably, it was Braden Fiske and Kobie Turner who led the team with seven pressures each.
McCollough played sparingly, only 11 snaps, so his grade has to be taken with a grain of salt.
Hoecht missed one tackle and struggled against the run at times (48.6 grade) but he had two pressures and a pass-rush grade of 73.1. Verse was similarly effective as a pass rusher with four tackles, but he missed a team-high four tackles, something that’s been a slight issue for him through three games.
Reeder cut down his missed tackles to just one in the game and he was decent in coverage with a grade of 66.0, allowing only one catch for 3 yards.

Bottom 5 offense

2170909981.jpg

  • WR Demarcus Robinson: 63.2
  • LG Logan Bruss: 61.4
  • WR Tyler Johnson: 55.7
  • LT Alaric Jackson: 47.4
  • RG Kevin Dotson: 41.6
It was a quiet day for Robinson and Johnson, which is reflected in their PFF grades – which still aren’t all that bad. Robinson caught one pass for 32 yards and Johnson had three receptions for 20 yards.
Bruss allowed two pressures, including a sack to Javon Hargrave, but his run-blocking grade of 68.8 was a positive. Jackson surrendered three pressures and one sack and had sub-60 grades in both pass protection and run blocking. Dotson allowed a team-high five pressures and one sack and finished with a team-worst 48.3 run-blocking grade.

Bottom 5 defense

USATSI_24303813.jpg

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images
  • DT Braden Fiske: 54.9
  • DT Kobie Turner: 50.9
  • S Kamren Curl: 49.1
  • CB Cobie Durant: 44.6
  • DB Quentin Lake: 44.0
Fiske shined as a pass rusher with seven total pressures but PFF dinged him as a run defender by grading him at 40.1, the lowest on the team.
It was a similar story for Turner, who also had seven pressures but missed one tackle and had a run-defense grade of 43.3.
Curl has gotten off to a slow start this season and while his 49.1 overall grade is nothing to write home about, he did have the highest tackling grade on the team (86.0).
Durant and Lake were the weak links in coverage, finishing with the two lowest grades in that category. Durant gave up five catches (seven targets) for 54 yards, while Lake allowed a team-high 109 yards on six catches (eight targets) in the win.

Other notables

2173811663.jpg

  • RB Kyren Williams: 69.1
  • TE Colby Parkinson: 64.9
  • S Kamren Kinchens: 63.3
  • CB Tre’Davious White: 61.5
Williams was a do-it-all player once again, going over 100 scrimmage yards with three touchdowns and excellent pass protection for Stafford when picking up the blitz.
Parkinson was up-and-down, dropping a pass and running a poor route in the red zone, while also stepping up in a big way as a blocker with grades of 73.7 in pass protection and 76.0 in the run game.
Kinchens was thrust into a bigger role at safety and though he got beat for a 31-yard touchdown, that was the only reception he allowed and he didn’t miss a tackle.
White was in coverage on Jauan Jennings’ 13-yard touchdown early in the game and he was also flagged for defensive holding, but his grade wasn’t as bad as expected.

I’d like to know exactly what pFF bases their grades on. Stafford was excellent, Kyren was excellent too.
