Call me crazy, but I'd subtract Robinson when Nacua comes back. Johnson's stepped up enough to make me trust him, we're obviously not getting rid of Atwell, Whittington, or Smith, so out of those who have to go, it's gotta be Robinson.

I'd still stick with Durant. He played an outstanding game yesterday. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't get rid of White for Witherspoon.

There's some differences to this. AD still played despite not starting, of course DTs rotate where ILBs generally don't. Also have to factor AD was playing behind Brockers and Langford, while neither were All-Pros they were certainly better than Reeder/Rozeboom. Also AD not starting could've just been Fisher "making Aaron earn it" type thing.

I remember specifically watching interviews with the DL line coach Waufel? Stating that they'll start AD when he's ready. Apparently it was a pretty hard thing to keep him out that full amount of time.

I know ILB's don't usually rotate but this coaching staff, and more particularly the DC and Linebackers position coach has to know that these two dudes starting aren't the answer and part of their job is to develop is test where their developmental projects are to gauge what you need to do to add to them and advance them. I'd be curious asf to see what is going on in that room.

Last year Robinson was playing for security. This year he got it and hasn't been quite the same.

Tutu this year is playing for security. He won't get it from the Rams, nor should he, but the production will maybe get him a check somewhere and a role in someone's offense. His problem is the catch radius and inconsistency. On that first drive yesterday a first down went right through his hands, problem is to involve him he requires space around him due to that micro catch radius. Raiders forced an incompletion on a ball to him by shadowing him underneath and he just can't get to anything unless it is right on him.

Rams require consistent threat and production from a third wideout in this offense. And that threat would ideally have good size and catch radius so they can eat up sidelines and underneath as well. None of these guys have been able to provide that. And when you subtract Kupp and Nacua every one of them is exposed as the JAGs they are.

Then we have the same problem at TE as well. Which exacerbates shit. We have a talent problem in the pass game without our top two, which would be true with most teams btw. But I think the Rams need to prioritize addition of either a top TE pass game threat or a legit X option in the draft. And they won't be able to get either of those outside of the top 15 or 20 or so players in a typical draft, and also need a LT. So idk. That is probably the best facet of paying Jackson at LT. Them being able to then go after another pass game weapon.

Pass game is what makes this offense go.

Not crazy. Robinson is the epitome of JAG. He's been a non factor when we needed him to step up. If McVay pulls back Atwells snaps when the core is healthy, he's lost his mind. He will be a serious weapon with Kupp and Nacua back.

Here's the JAGs we are relying on right now or have relied on to this point, according to my eye, on the offensive side of the ball:

(3) Entire TE room of Parkinson, Long, and Allen. Parkinson is an all around type mediocre player, as is Long. Allen has upside for the pass game. But when it comes to carrying their weight in moving the chains these guys are all JAGs. Rams knew this, and were counting on the wideout room to carry the offense.

(5) Current entire WR room of Tutu, Robinson, Johnson, Whittington, and Smith. Of these only Whittington may prove to be more than just a guy. And the jury's out on that right now plus he's been hurt. Smith can play X, but he is a JAG playing X and that affects the offense.

(3) OL who have played LG and C for us. Limmer, Bruss, and Dedich. Of those, Limmer possibly could emerge as more, but he is a rookie and learning. And by the way I appreciate what Limmer has done. But he is not a legit starter thus far, he has been a rookie center learning on the job.

So I think what is happening here is a reminder that players matter. JAGs can make the occasional play. But they cannot make enough plays over a game to sustain wins unless they are complemented by difference makers. It just so happens the Rams have lost difference makers to injury and no matter how fatigued the fan base may be by citing injuries as the problem the fact remains that injuries are the problem.

So to take this a step further let's use Limmer as an example. He has played 6 games with a JAG on his left and a starting level RG who is playing through injury on his right. That's a lot to deal with for a JAG. And JAG is just an efficient and easy to use term here. You can replace it with "backup" if you wish. But bottom line is it is completely unrealistic to expect him to be more than a JAG given the situation he has been in.

But what happens when Avila returns. Well... Now you have a good starter on his left. And a good starter on his right who hopefully is past his injury status. So there is potential for Avila's return to be felt strongly by this line.

Applying this to Kupp returning, what that does is lessen the load on the QB, with whom Kupp is always on the same page in reads in real time on the field. He also lessens the load on the other two wideouts in terms of moving the chains. He will give you some first downs to move the chains, and by extension of the attention he receives a few more first downs for the other wideouts. This means we should be in the redzone more often and have more chances to score.

I don't think Kupp is going to impact us like he would have a few years back. But make no mistake losing both him and Nacua were huge hits to this offense because the only player who looked like he was capable of carrying the possession load was Whittington who got hurt and still has everything to prove.

I'm happy with Verse though. But the offense does need some reliable pass-game talent. I'm not sure how reliable Kupp will be going forward given his history and age and both he and Puka have a playing style that makes them susceptible to injury.

I think Kupp is gonna go off vs Minnesota on Thursday. What this offense has been missing is the possession option that only he and Nacua provide. I don't think he'll be able to sustain what he used to sustain, and that's just acknowledging the dude is getting long in the tooth. But a great example is late in that game yesterday when we needed that last third down conversion and Tutu got the opportunity and of course went right down and short of the sticks.

This offense is driven by possession in the pass game and YAC. I expect it will respond very strongly to getting that back. But I'll feel a lot better when we have both him and Nacua back.

Whittington is someone I'm willing to die on the hill of opinion when it comes to him. Quite simply, without him, we barely made any plays. With him, we did. Add in Kupp and Nacua, and that leaves him wide open to make more plays.

Limmer has more than exceeded my expectations; he's a rookie center being thrown into a hostile situation and he's surviving. That's more than you could hope for, and I think he could be even better next year.

Allen has been injured all year, but he's got to be better than Parkinson and - especially - Long. I want to see what he can do before I throw out the baby with the bathwater.

The McVay offense is and always has been at its best when they can run the ball effectively. They used PA a lot more when Goff was behind center, but Stafford seems to have good success with it as well..... When McVay calls it.

I think Stafford likes the shotgun too much and McVay calls the O accordingly.
