True. But if this offense sticks with Reynolds and Brown there's a good chance they won't be good enough. Whereas the rookies offer potential for improvement.

This is why most of my hopes for this offense lie with the rooks.

I'm the opposite. I figure when they are ready McVay will play them. Until then there are reasons they aren't playing. For instance maybe Akers ribs aren't healed enough for them to run him more. Or maybe they prefer Brown's pass blocking skills. Maybe Jefferson hasn't picked up enough of the playbook, or his blocking is not sufficient. Those are things we don't know without McVay saying it. What we do know is what Reynolds is. If Van isn't beating him for playing time then there is a reason, because Reynolds definitely has limitations.

He can't be much worse than Hendo who brain-farted on picking up or at least chipping a free rusher knowing he was not a hot read.

Thanks. One part of the question answered.

I've always felt that with Marshall Faulk's cerebral and instinctual traits that he'd make a good RB coach. Akers seems like a similar style back. McVay should give Faulk a call:)

.

I don't think Mcvay was using the word maturing in the sense of he was acting like a porkchop. I think he meant it in the sense of picking up the blocking scheme.
