95 snaps on offense, good thing they get a bye next week.

They need to drop Everett's snap counts. He's not playing like this is a contract year for him. I'd also begin to increase Van Jeff's as well. Need to see what we have in him.

Why so few snaps for Van Jefferson I wonder.

It went along perfectly with so few shots we took down field, I guess.

And home-run threats Akers and Henderson with 34% of the snaps and shorter yard man Malcolm Brown had 60%?

Ponderous.

Needed him to Block though.
Exactly, you look at the 2nd half hes all over the place, picking up blitzes.

Akers is still learning and Henderson was taken out with that nagging thigh, which has been going on since after the niners game.

Btw Thanks @BigRamFan for posting the counts.

OLB'er Samson Ebukam snaps went up dramatically in the Phins game. Both OLB'ers Terrell Lewis & J. Polite snaps dropped a sizeable amount.

Ebukam did manage a small size amount of stats with his increase with 1 solo & 2 assisted tacks, Same as Justin Hollins.

I don't think Akers or Henderson had nearly enough carries is my point

And they only needed him to block because they are running way too many pass plays.

After that first turnover for a score, it seems like McVay was trying to get it all back in three plays instead of grinding it out on the ground and controlling the tempo and controlling the clock.
That led to another turnover.

I really hate to say it but that was actually the worse game I've ever seen McVay call.

After we saw what kind of pass rush and pressure they were getting we should have switched to a more quick throw game.
Our O line was not holding up for that pocket passer mess that led to turnovers.

Grasping playbook? Blocking not up to snuff?
Evidently something.

I would have rather seen them taking some deep shots off of bootlegs and roll outs and mostly running the ball and establishing the run against Miami.
I think that would have been a little more successful because their pass russ was ferocious.
They were getting consistent penetration on the outside runs.
We didn't run as much between-the-tackles as we might have.

it's all 20/20 hindsight at this point but I've seen McVay call way better games than this one.
Also the halftime adjustment was a fail.

It's all a learning experience for our young coach.

I don't think anyone here disagreed with we should have run the ball more,But.

Since Oct 22 Henderson has been playing with a thigh injury,McVay was playing him in the 1st half, but dude finally had to come out.

And when your down like we were, you're gonna pass, they are blitzing so hello Malcam.

There is No-one better at pass pro playing Rb than him, Imho

One of the reasons we are down so much was because they were not playing enough ball-control running and they were trying to deal with a pocket passer game with way too much pressure on it.
It was obvious really early in the game that we couldn't get a pocket going so why not go to rollouts and bootlegs.?

But you can't do a bootleg successfully if you're not running the ball to begin with.

We were up 7 and should have started more ball running game which would mean Akers getting more snaps, (I didn't know Henderson was injured in the first half).

I just think that make they got away from a ball control run game way too early in the first half.
it was almost like big Vape panicked when they were up 14-7.
It just compounded the problem that we could not stop their pass rush and then we started coughing the ball up on the regular.

The game plan sucked and they didn't change it.

The RB position is definitely hurting us. The fact that we have two talented backs who are marginal at best in pass pro dictates the use of Brown in the pass game, which in turn makes things a lot easier on the second level who don't have to sweat routes out of the backfield or in the flats.

IMO the answer lies in getting Hendy/Akers ready so they can be out there, and getting Jefferson rolling at wideout. They drafted these guys for a reason, McVay has done nothing but talk his RB coach up, the staff has to get these guys ready.

Brown and Reynolds are mediocre players. Mediocre players don't produce consistently. There's a lot of talent on this offense but having 2 guys out there like them slows it and makes it much easier to gameplan and control on gameday.

Draft picks don’t always live up to expectations, especially in their first year. Take Henderson for an example.

True. But if this offense sticks with Reynolds and Brown there's a good chance they won't be good enough. Whereas the rookies offer potential for improvement.

This is why most of my hopes for this offense lie with the rooks.
