I am more of a lurker and only an occasional poster here. I drop in often to read everything you all put up, and the analysis on this board is part of why I keep coming back. I was actually at the Rams meetup in St. Louis back in 2008, from a different forum, which feels like a different lifetime at this point.
With the active offseason just getting going, I wanted to throw out something fun for us to chew on. If you could plug in ONE player at any position, all in, biggest possible impact on this team in 2026, who is it?
My answer is Fred Warner.
He is 29, a four-time First-Team All-Pro, and the kind of off-ball linebacker who diagnoses plays before they happen. We have rebuilt the front with Verse, Turner, and Young, and we just overhauled the cornerback room by bringing in McDuffie and Watson. The second level, though, has been the soft spot for a couple of seasons. Drop Warner into the middle of that defense and everything tightens. Run fits get cleaner, tight ends and backs stop running free in coverage, and the unit gets a true play-caller who has earned the right to wear the green dot.
He also brings something the defense has been missing since Aaron Donald walked away. He is a captain, a culture setter, and a guy who shows up every Sunday. He has missed exactly one game in seven NFL seasons.
I know there are good alternatives. You could make a real case for an elite interior defensive lineman to anchor the inside, or for a true number one corner if you do not feel sold on the McDuffie and Watson additions yet. Setting aside the position value debate, if I get to pluck one player and drop him on the roster tomorrow, Warner moves the needle the most for what this specific team needs.
What say you?
