How long before someone accuses Greg Williams of concocting an idea about injuring players with the concrete? :deadhorse:

On another note, the guy who mentioned if Gurley got hurt, Gurley wouldn't run out of bounds. He prefers to run over tacklers. :sneaky:

Veteran runner Pierre Thomas signs with the 49ers

When Blaine Gabbert takes a snap this week, he’ll have a veteran back behind him, anyway.

According to a tweet from his agent, former Saints running back Pierre Thomas has signed with the 49ers, giving them cover after Reggie Bush was lost for the season when he slipped and fell on the concrete in St. Louis.

The former Saints running back has had some workouts, and was close to a deal with the Texans in the preseason before things fell apart.

The 49ers also signed former Browns back Shaun Draughn to help keep healthy bodies in the backfield.

He worked out for them two weeks ago, and gives them an experienced and versatile back. Considering Carlos Hyde has been dealing with foot injuries and is clearly not 100 percent and Mike Davis has a broken hand, having someone trustworthy like Thomas on hand will be good for Gabbert.

Such that anything good is coming from this situation.

Rams want injury-inducing cement at Edward Jones Dome replaced
After two opposing players slipped in recent weeks, the St. Louis Rams are pushing to have the exposed concrete surface behind the bench areas replaced before their next home game, according to Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo.

The Cleveland Browns' Josh McCown and the San Francisco 49ers' Reggie Bush were hurt in back-to-back weeks on the surface, which has been in place since the Rams began playing in the Edward Jones Dome in 1995. Bush suffered a likely season-ending knee injury on Sunday when his feet gave out from under him when he was trying to stop himself on the concrete. On Oct. 25, McCown hurt his shoulder when he collided with the wall that supports the elevated seats behind the visitors' bench.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher told reporters on Monday that the team was in discussions with the NFLabout the concrete surface, but Garafolo reports that the Rams have made it clear that they intend to change the surface to one that gives better footing before their next home game, on Nov. 15 against the Chicago Bears.

It's unclear at this point what the solution will be: Since the Edward Jones Dome is owned by the city of St. Louis, the Rams have to work with local officials on the decision. The Rams have four home games remaining this year, and they could be the final four games for the franchise in St. Louis, as it is one of the teams in the running to move to Los Angeles.

We're trying to replace the concrete with a brand new stadium.

Clearly, he had no idea how slick that concrete was.

Neither did Bush, apparently.

I probably would have done the same thing... just kind of glide into the wall.

This isn't on McCown... or Bush... this is on The Ed.

They need to fix it.
Agreed...Just Fix IT!!!

Blue rubber padding covers concrete at Edward Jones Dome
Posted by Josh Alper on November 15, 2015

The concrete surface surrounding the perimeter of the playing field and bench areas at Edward Jones Dome became an issue during the Rams’ last two home games because Browns quarterback Josh McCown and 49ers running back Reggie Bush each slipped and fell on it at the end of plays.

Bush suffered a torn ACL, which has led to a lawsuitagainst the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority because they operate the stadium. It has also led to a change in the surface for Sunday’s game against the Bears.

There’s now blue rubber padding covering the concrete at the edges of the turf, which can be seen in this photo by Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The blue "carpet" is the new rubberized cover over what used to be concrete at Edward Jones Dome.

It may be a while before we find out if this is a solution for four final Rams games in St. Louis or for years to come, but things should be a bit safer for players at the dome for however long the building is hosting NFL games.
