On TV, anyway, they didn't stop anything.

He tossed the ball to the refs. They made an announcement on the loud speaker. The fans cheered. They ran a play under normal time allotment.

I don't know the right answer to handle these things. Because, to call time out, would be somewhat of a disadvantage to the other team. At the same time, the achievement mostly went unacknowledged.
