Maybe Rams should do the reverse and draft a stud one with the team we have now? I know it depends on who falls but man would that be awesome. Not having that 2nd rd pick sucks this year as I know some people would think a RB with the 1st pick is too high. Oh well, lets go Rams and SJ was the man.
I’d be ok with a RB with our first pick as long as he is a total stud. I realize there’s no SJ in this draft but maybe someone we could get 4 or 5 seasons out of and would add a big, explosive weapon. I’d jump on that.

Totally agree with that. Can you imagine how much more an explosive running back option would open up this offense? As much as I appreciate Kyren, that home run hitter threat would be crazy scary for defenses to contend with. Not saying we are doing it nor saying trade the farm, but could you imagine a Jeanty with Puka and Adams on this offense? Let me dream hahahaha
SJ39 had it all, power, vision, speed, hands, pass blocking and just an all around good human being. SJ39 was often the only bright spot the Rams had going for them during his time with the team.
The Rams did OK with the last RB they drafted in the 1st. Gurleys career was a bit short, but he was electric.

Honestly, my most realistic target that I like at running back is Quinshon Judkins. Big back, 4.48 speed, but best of all showed up in big time games. He's gonna be a stud in this league in my opinion. I know some love Hampton but I think he'll be better. Not saying Hampton is a slouch by the way lol.
The year New England picked him up was the ONLY time I ever rooted for them. I wanted them to win the Super Bowl just because SJ39 deserved it.
What new faces ? The Rams are still a very young team.They’ve only lost Hoecht,Reeder,Bobby Brown,Rosenboom ,besides Kupp.
Those aren’t household names or players.
When The Rams decided to pay Bulger & not SJ39 it was time to trade him.Like I said Jay Cutler & SJ39 would have mad sense.Another example would be if The Rams would have drafted say Jalen Hurt & had Goff play out his contract gives teams cap space,time & trade value.
As much as I can appreciate what Jeanty did in college, I question whether it will translate to the NFL. I’d love to see a big back with speed. One of my favorite offensive plays is when a RB or TE absolutely trucks a defender. People like to talk about ED as a finesse type runner but that dude looked to finish a lot of his runs by going straight at the defender. That’s a part of SJs game that everyone realized. I think that sometimes overshadowed just how fast and nimble the guy was for a big back. I always used to laugh when defenders would say that SJ was more like tackling a big LB than a RB. He was so fun to watch.
The biggest problem back then, is they did not have McVay. Or anyone close to as good.
SJ was a freak. I got to see him up close in Oakland, Bradford's first road start. At that time SJ was the whole team. I was 7 rows back on the Rams sideline right behind this trainers table that was Jackson's personal table it seemed. He was our whole team and treated like it. They were working on that guy, massaging his legs after every series.
You could tell the Raiders did not exactly like tackling him. I remember a perfectly executed sweep right in front of us.
The women around us sure liked Danny Amendola .
I can remember paying attention to the Rams equipment manager, who,s nephew got me a autographed Rams football. (that POS Spags fired him after the season. Up until that point the only men who ever put a gold Ram horn decal on our helmets was a Hewitt)
SJ seemed like a great guy. He came right up to the small group of Rams fans after the loss and gave the guy next to me his game gloves.
Watching these SJ vids. McVay could have done some good things with Bulger. He could play. And did not deserve the beatings he took.

Mike Rumph literally broke his arm trying to tackle S-Jax. After that, no DB wanted to tackle him.
He was fun to watch but tough to realize it was for nothing in the realm of winning. He won everytime he suited up and I can only imagine if we had him now. Oh my.

Man, this video brought back some awesome memories. I had literally forgotten how many long, explosive runs S Jax had. He did some of his best work behind some mediocre to bad OLs but he kept churning out the yards.
I do remember the game against the Whiners when he caught a pass like 4 yards short of a first down and he plowed and pushed Patrick Willis back like a rag doll and the Rams went on to win.
He was special and will always be on the Rams "All Heart" team!

Sorry, but not having McVay wasn't the Rams' biggest problem back then.
But now that the problem has been resolved, and enough water has gone under the bridge, it's great to see the Rams kicking butt again.
Wish I could've seen SJ live tho. Only way to tackle him was the shoe-string approach--and sadly, that seemed to work a lot, just when it seemed like he was about to bust one.

Not having a coach like Mcvay has been the Rams "single biggest problem" for most of their existence. WE, not the Steelers had the best defense of the 70s. No Super Bowl wins. 80s, some very talented teams, no Super Bowls at all. We had buffoons for the most part of the 90s and were fortunate to hire Martz. because without him we do not win 99. Even Martz was too stubborn in 01, we should have won that game even with all the cheating.
The 2000s after Martz ?? A parade of bozo's on our sidelines. Linahan, Hasslet, Spags (the worst) and Fisher.
We were wandering in the desert for years before Sean Fucking McVay.
We do not know how good we have it.
We should have had Bill Walsh in 1980. He wanted to be a Ram and became the Niners coach and a top 5 coach of all time.

If SJ was heavy footed like Larry Csonka he would not have all the shoestring tackles. But he would not have been as dynamic as a runner. All that stuff was unfair to SJ. He was done wrong by the pathetic Rams coaches/GMs of his era. HOFer if they were better at their jobs.
Good point. Henderson and Judkins shared the backfield evenly last year. If only one carried the load they could have challenged Jeanty as top back in college last year. In addition, less wear on their bodies by sharing the load. I’m seeing 5 stud RBs this year all gone by end of R2 but I’m a novice.

So yes, SJ was done wrong. But those coaches / GMs didn't hire themselves.
