The facts: The St. Louis Rams fell to 0-1 with a 27-23 defeat to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
The upside: Even the worst defeats tend to feature a bright spot or two.
Janoris Jenkins, Jo-Lonn Dunbar and Cortland Finnegan picked off passes for the Rams. Finnegan returned his for a touchdown. The Rams last had three first-half interceptions against Atlanta in 1996.
Sam Bradford's 23-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Gibson broke a 13-13 tie in the fourth quarter.
Bradford's 105.1 NFL passer rating was his highest in a game since 2010, his rookie season. He had three higher than that.
Bradford did not throw an interception. His streak of throwing fewer than two in a game dates to Week 12 of the 2010 season (at Denver).
Rookie kicker Greg Zuerlein held up well in pressure situations. The Rams' decision to go with rookie specialists did not cost them.
Robert Quinn, making his first start as a full-time defensive end, sacked Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The Rams held Stafford to one touchdown pass. They held Calvin Johnson without a touchdown.
Danny Amendola, back in the lineup after missing nearly all of last season to injury, had five catches for 70 yards.
Rookie running back Daryl Richardson had carries for 11 and 9 yards.
Looking ahead: The Rams are home against Washington in Week 2.
