One of the greatest hits of Rams lore. Playoff legend right there.

Yeah, Scott should be starting. This coming from one of his former detractors.

I was not a big Scott fan, even during his initial insertion into the Safety role. However, he has proven me wrong with seemingly getting better and more comfortable after each start. I think with a good offseason dedicated towards playing more of a starting role than he probably has prior to this season he should continue to develop. My biggest issue with him is needing to improve on his tackling. Too many of the ole drive and throw the shoulder at the offensive player’s leg and hope he goes down. A few too many fly-bys for me at this point. However, that skill can certainly be improved.

I don’t hate Rapp but agree with others who say he is a better run game safety coming out of the box than he is in coverage. I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing. He can very much excel in that role and others in more of the pass defense role

I’m still trying to fully figure out what they have in Fuller and Burgess however. Obviously by the end of camp those roles should become much clearer

DC Morris has two young drafted starting safeties in Rapp & Fuller who have injuries histories already. Fuller in his first two seasons hit the injured reserve twice in a row & only 1 INT in 2021. Fuller does have the capability to play much better. IMO he would be better if his responsibilities were not always so deep he lacks the speed.

Top 2019 draft selection safety Taylor Rapp for all real purposes has been demoted to part-time ILB'er on passing downs after his knee injury & long lay off. FS Nick Scott had a clear path to ascend in this secondary. I see FS Nick Scott as the best versatile safety that DC Morris can field at this time.

This unit has been together a few seasons now & Snead has invested his priceless rare draft selections in it. It should play better as a unit. I will be hoping that 2019 3rd rd draft selection FS Terrell Burgess & SS Antoine Brooks Jr can finally turn it on & surpass FS Fuller & SS Rapp.

Snead appears strapped to be forced to remain with this same safety cadre this upcoming season with outside corners & ER's/OLB being a much higher need. I would prefer to see Fuller @ SS & Scott @ FS, with Burgess as the top swing safety in 2022.

The Rams two best safeties this season, other than Weddle, were a 6th round second year player and a 7th rounder who was drafted to be a special teams stud.
They could add a functional contributor in this draft at the position.. but it needs to be someone with real instincts in the pass game who can play deep, imo.

I am afraid Burgess was a miss. He's got all the tools for playing over the top but not the mentality. If he did have it he would have been starting by now. Our safeties were inconsistent all season and we saw in the playoffs what his value was when they had to bring Weddle in to clean that shit up.

Will say again we need a ballhawk at safety. I don't even care if his run defense is iffy. We have plenty of guys who can come up and run support, where we're short is the coverage/anticipation side playing deep. It's a pretty big need because Morris plays enough Cover 3 looks to where one of these guys has to be able to cycle into it and lock shit down. Ideally an anchor type around which you move your coverages post-snap and who can keep everyone lined up so having some leadership would be nice too.

Re: corner we also need a ballhawk here. Ramsey's great and all with his erasing ability in coverage and helping out vs the run but he's got shitty ball awareness and iffy hands. Teams are going to test him more and more as he ages, it's the nature of the game, and his ball skills improving would help him stave that off if he were to focus on it IMO. But outside of that we need CB2/3 INT threat. They're gonna get thrown at and beat at times so why not ensure you at least have good ball awareness to add turnovers in our favor.

I agree on the "ballhawk" safety idea.. I'm surprised at how well Scott has developed in this aspect and wonder if he's ready to take another step. We'll see. But, yeah... that's what I want in any player drafted for Safety this year.

I'm not as interested in that at the corner as I am in some length and tackling ability. People were up in arms about Reeder missing tackles, for good reasons.. but Williams, Deayon and Long were just bad tacklers this year and all undersized. I hope Rochell can change that.. and I'm looking for another more physical prospect to draft.

I'll say this though... He's already a starter on the All-NFL Shit Talking Team. That little dude is a world class shit talker. World Class.

Where did you hear this? I think I missed this.

He has to beat out whoever else is on our team if he wants to start.

The hit on Deebo was absolutely huge for the Rams' psyche in that playoff game.

Deebo has been running rampant and bullying the Rams for several seasons.

Football is a game of intimidation and of imposing your will on your opponent.

Scott's hit sent a message to the 49ers that the Rams had had enough of taking their punishment and were prepared to dish it out.

Seeing Deebo on the ground writhing in pain most certainly gave the Rams a massive jolt of confidence, got the team jacked up and was a mental blow to the 49ers, seeing their leader go down like that.

That hit on Deebo was a thing of beauty. Basically took Deebo out of the game
Sometimes severe trauma takes a while to register in a victim. The real reason Samuel was crying at the end of the game was the trauma of being stone cold neutered by Scott finally hit him. He came to the Realize there would be No more Deebo Samuel family lineage from that moment in time.
