Just to a let my ignorance show a little bit here.

I never understood the concept of a PSL. Are you actually entitled to something with it? I'm assuming you still are paying for tickets. What gives with a PSL?

(And what's the deal with airplane food?)

Airplane food - what's that? My daughter flies Emirates Airline; I fly Southwest - choice of peanuts or pretzels. As for a PSL - Personal Seat License - it gives you a right to purchase tickets; that's all. I bought $1,000 PSLs 20 years ago; got shut out of the lottery the first time; then took deep end zone seats just to get in the door. Supposedly, you own the PSL - can sell to a subsequent purchaser if you want, which would give THEM the right to buy your tickets; but haven't heard mention of PSLs for years now. They've either expired, or lost any market value. That's one of my concerns about the survey the NFL is sending to various markets now; I don't want to purchase ANOTHER set of PSLs, while people in LA - without the NFL for 20 years - presumably would. Been there, done that. I guess the passion of newbies is of value; but so is loyalty over a couple of decades, right?

So...now what?

I've been a PSL owner and season ticket holder since the Rams came to St. Louis. Started with two other partners, sharing 8 tickets; eventually down to 4 seats, shared with one other partner. Now that partner has opted out. We now have good seats in the Dome; not sure whether to re-up for season tickets for next year.

Two months ago, I was sure; I was done. The NFL had a tough public relations year; Stan Kroenke clearly was hoping to move the Rams to LA; the Dome (I represented the contractor that built the Dome in the 1990s, so was invested) was being dissed regularly; attendance was slowly diminishing, as the Rams continued their decade-plus of futility; the people I used to tailgate with now had other interests; the big lot where we used to tailgate was now a casino; and the team continued as a roster-without-a-quarterback, as Sam Bradford was once again injured. I legitimately felt that 2014 was the Rams' make-it-or-break-it year for me; and I thought "break-it" was the result as soon as Bradford (again) tore his ACL in preseason. I was too smart to be duped again, particularly if I had to go it alone on the season ticket route.

It seemed to me that the Rams were faced with two Rubik's cube problems; one, how to fix the stadium issue and retain the NFL in St. Louis; and two, a roster without a durable quarterback, and with no options I could see; a brittle QB with the last-big-contract-before-the-rookie-cap collar on him.

Then, the worm started to turn; first at the 30,000 feet level; now with the team itself. The turn started with Gov. Nixon, of all people, announcing that he had no intention of letting St. Louis lose its status as an NFL city; then with Dave Peacock being named to head the development team; now with actual stadium proposals (which I love), plus real competition for Kroenke's Inglewood plans in the form of the Chargers and Raiders. Hmmmm...pretty interesting. Thinking dispassionately, I decided my bottom line was that St. Louis remain an NFL city, even if the Rams left for LA. I'd still care about the Rams, but from a distance, and not as I did in the GSOT days.

Now the Rams football leadership has begun work on the roster problem, as well. No cap room? Cut Wells, and Jake Long; and trade your $13Million QB for one who makes $1.5Million, and voila! Suddenly $28Million to play with under the salary cap. Then add Ayers, and Fairley. Suddenly, the Rams have a defensive line made up of five first-round picks, and speedy outside linebackers - the kind you need to cover tight ends, even the new one of the Seahawks. Still need to work on the offensive line, but...now there's cap room; and the Rams pick #10; likelihood is that the Rams should be able to get an O-lineman; or Amari Cooper; OR maybe trade up for Marcus Mariota. Hmmmm again...now getting really interesting.

Now I have a month to decide whether to renew my season tickets. For a lame duck year? No way! But...this team looks like it might be kinda fun. And...is there any way the Rams - or whoever might occupy a new stadium - would give special consideration to an original, PSL-buying, 20+ year season ticket holder in the new stadium? Now, THAT would burn; if I gave up my season tickets for this year, and in so doing gave up my place in line at a new stadium. But it also would burn if I renewed my tickets; the new stadium never got built; and the Rams didn't even stay.

A conundrum. Thank God the snow is gone; if this rain ever stops, at least I can play golf while I mull over my options. Cost is about $3500 per year for four seats; not bad if they're competitive; a waste if they're not. Looking for some guidance; if you were in my position, what would you do?

Here's what I would do....

Take the owner out of the equation. Do you enjoy going to the games? Do you think the roster is on the upturn? Do you think we could have a shot at the playoffs this year? IF you answer yes to these questions, I would renew.

I say leave the owner out, because you aren't supporting him. You support the team. If nobody supports the team, then you're just giving him more ammunition to leave.

Dude, I felt the same way after the Inglewood nonsense was announced. I thought STL should send a message by turning the dome into a ghost town.

I've had a change of heart.

People are expecting this to be a lame duck season. Those people fail to realize that STL has the best freaking fans in the country. It's time to prove it.

The easy thing would be to abandon ship like so many other cities have done during lame duck years. But it's time to prove we're better. The way we send a statement is by rocking the roof off that dome.

Kroenke wants the empty stands to justify his nonsense. We need to expose him for the money grubbing scum he is by showing up in full force. Show the country that there's no good reason for the Rams to leave.

Some will complain about handing their money over to the enemy, Mr. Kroenke, but guess what... That's not going to make a difference. Depriving him of ticket sales will not break his wallet or ruffle his feathers. It will send no statement whatsoever...other than surrender.

Don't worry about the politics or where the money is going. We can't change any of that. The only statement we can make as fans is by showing up in full force and giving Kroenke a collective middle finger.

Renew the tickets. Convince your friends to do the same.

I was gonna write something similar but that was much more eloquent than I could put it. Great post.

The team is going to be entertaining.

No question: nenew

The Rams are investing their cap dollars. I get the politics around the stadium, but they don't look to me out to tank the season.

I would renew no matter what.

1) I would think that current PSL owners would get first shot at new PSL if/when new stadium is built in STL

2) The team is building alot of talent. Hell you could go stand in line to take a leak whenever the offense has the ball, and just be sitting down for the defense. That alone might be worth the price.

3) If you decide you dont want to go to the games, you could always give me your tickets, (y)

This is probably your last year to be a season ticket holder, unless you move from St Louis. I would say go for it. I was a season ticket holder last year and won't be this year because I'm not made of money. I'm fully aware the team is gone after this year. I'm just going to focus on this year like nothing is going to happen and try and enjoy the heck out of it.

I had season tickets in the Big A through the Rams last year in So Cal....actually had season tickets only their last 2 years.
I say do it. No downside really. If they leave you still got to see the games if they stay you still have you psl.

Oh god, this should stir up quite the debate. I'll just say this, St.Louis is much further ahead of LA with their stadium plan. I don't think we would be putting so much effort into a stadium if we were moving. Theres going to be talk of moving to LA especially for any team that's lease is up. But that's all I'll say about it.

I hope you do renew, I have never had season tickets, but I plan to buy 2 seats this year. my hope is that all those fans that were here from 95 to 05 all come back and rock the dome again, if the dome can have that kind of atmosphere again with the threat of a move hanging over the team that would show the NFL that we deserve to keep our team IMO, plus i think we could be a playoff team this year so even if it did happen to be the last season here, at least i got to watch them win one last time.
