We've already seen him hit him deep. Many times.

Man the negative shit about tutu around here is sickening.

And cam. And van.

Sick of reading it.

Disclaimer - not a shot at you Merlin, just the general mood around this place about these players.

.
Many times? :eyeroll::thinking:

Why not negative?
Less than 300 yards, 1 TD, 18 receptions in 2 years is good?

I’d argue his production from two years is more sickening.

you can't produce if you don't get any chances.

once given a chance tutu was making plays out there.

You know this is the NFL right? If you can’t earn playing time being a second round pick IDK what else needs to be said outside of the obvious, our FO have buyers remorse.

The last 5 games with Mayfield starting (with Kupp & Robinson out), he played 78.2% of the snaps. And the Rams ran for 613 yds (4.8 ypc). I'm certainly not saying he was a good blocker but being on the field a lot didn't hamper the run game.

Great point!

“I think it’s really early,” coach Sean McVay told reporters on Wednesday, “but Tutu Atwell is a guy that’s really done an excellent job. He’s super smart. Obviously, he’s well known for his speed, but he’s really done a great job in this offseason and it showed up today of really establishing himself, playing with aggressive hands, understanding the nuances of how we want to work edges and separate where he fits within the concepts.”

McVay, as he often does, then rattled off a bunch of names of other players on the depth chart: rookie Puka Nacua, Ben Skowronek, DeMarcus Robinson, and Tyler Johnson.

I laughed at McVay quickly getting in the other WRs.

There are lots of storylines with the Rams but Atwell's is extremely intriguing.

Make or break year for him. If McVay gives him the chance he should have a good year IMO.
Reports of DRob and TJohnson already making there case for the #3 WR aren't exactly great for Tutu.

But then I also wouldn't expect a 5'8 or whatever he is and 165lb WR to be a #3.

Atwell only needs 40-50% of snaps to have an impact. Look for a lot of 3 and 4 WR sets. There is a lot of depth this season at WR. Benny Skow, Puka Nacua, DRob and T Johnson. The only one with real scarey speed is Atwell.

Time will tell.

Those 2 doing good hurts guys like Skow, Lance, and the UDFA they signed. Atwell has the speed and hands to be a weapon in this offense in my opinion.

It is impressive for Nacua to already be topping the depth chart behind the top 3. Assuming of course she is right. No small feat there.

I think it's Kupp, Jefferson and then a rotation based on down, distance and situation.

So #3 isn't really about the player as much as what the player is best at.

The real question is, how is McVay going to rest Kupp???

I’d maybe agree with you except McVay has said on multiple occasions that it was his fault for not involving Atwell more, not that Tutu hadn’t earned time on the field.

McVay is giving him the opportunity and Tutu seems to be shining.

Why dwell on the negatives? It’s not like focusing on them improves our chances or increases the watching enjoyment… and that’s coming from autistic me where I beat a dead horse about patterns I see even when those patterns are negative.

If fans can’t have enthusiasm for a team when the records are all 0-0, I dunno what to say… have ya forgotten the 90s or 2006-2016?

We had a GREAT draft and I think we’re gonna see some surprises

Kobie Turner is gonna surprise people. Steve Avila is gonna be even better than we hoped. I see Steve Hutchinson levels attained by him. Puka Nacua is getting the same love and attention that KUPP got and he’s gonna make a difference. Tre Hodges Tomlinson is already standing out at the nickel and and with Cobie Durant owning the STAR position, that’s another contributing rookie.

We got 2nd year guys coming back that are ready to step up as well.

Stafford, KUPP and AD are healthy and Cam Akers looks bigger AND as explosive as he was before the injury.

The potential is all there.

This season will undoubtedly have big ups and downs as bmvery young teams do, but if y’all can’t see the immense talent and possibilities this roster brings… take another look cuz you’re missing out on a good time.

Agreed, I think Tutu and Skow both get time in situational downs playing the roles they played last year with Puka and probably Robinson getting playing time at #3. Hopefully Kupp and VJ can stay healthy for the whole year so we don't have to see any of those guys forced into #1/#2 duty.

The problem Atwell faces is that he's limited by his size as to where he can play. His style isn't physical so it really is limited to Y and maybe Z. Nacua and Robinson being bigger more physical WRs they can play all 3 positions. The way this roster is shaping up Atwell is looking like a #4 WR.

I think people need to temper their expectations for Robinson. There is a reason he hasn't stuck anywhere. He has a long history of being a headcase, and losing focus resulting in dropped catchable balls. That is not the kind of guy that you cut or bench a Skowronek or Atwell for. IMO right now he's looking good as a camp body but he does every TC. He spent 6 years with the Chiefs but wore his welcome out there, and then bounced to Raiders last year and finally to Baltimore this year only to be released. He is what he is at this point, which IMO should be strictly a camp body or a STs player.

I think by November the Rams will be starting Kupp, Jefferson, Nacua, with Atwell and Skowronek with possibly a 6th WR but I doubt it's Robinson. People don't understand how important Nacua will be to the starting rotation. He's the only WR that can naturally play X WR should Jefferson go out again. This is a contract year for Van so he absolutely needs to stay healthy, but if not then Nacua becomes the starting X with Atwell and Skowronek rotating at Y.

McVay also said nothing was wrong with Todd Gurley and everything was hunky dorey. Would you like more examples of things he said that weren't accurate?

McVay is classy and isn't straight going to carpet bomb someone especially when there is no need to do it publicly. It's straight coach speak and Tutu's production and subsequent playing time are a direct result of buyers remorse.

Typical for someone not being able to read the tea leaves and directly through the bullshit of coach speak and bringing all kind of non sensical things that literally has nothing to do with them making a horrid pick and still not realizing it afterwards.

Does focusing on the positives improve the chances of winning? No. BECAUSE WE ARE FANS. Are we part of the organization? No. What we talk about, act, view has no direct correlation on what happens on that field.

IDK you might feel in some way if you wear your old 1990 rams knee high socks that good things when you watch the team play, but in reality you, me, anybody else on this board outside of going to a game and making some noise on a goal line stand doesn't effect any outcome of a game, team morale, or wins/losses.

Is this something new? Rookie WRs not producing? Weren't there some Ram fans asking, "Denzel Mims anyone?". There's a guy drafted #59 in 2020 with 42 career receptions!!! Eskridge, taken 1 slot prior to Tutu has 1 less career reception than Atwell. Very few NCAA WRs run a full route tree. So they have to learn in the pros.......and sometimes it doesn't work out so fast. K.Toney is on his 2nd team already and he was drafted #20 overall. Jalen Reagor #21 by the Eagles....the Vikings couldn't do anything with him either.

Tutu had 10 snaps his rookie year so, yeah, nada.
The first 11 weeks last year he had 30. Still nada.
But from week 12-18 he had 279 (40 per game....when 40 snaps was about 70% of the offensive plays due to a lethargic offense). He only had 16 receptions in those 7 games but that was 14 more than he had in his entire career up to that point. 3 years. I'll give the guy through this year before I give up on him.
