I think the Goff / Montana comparisons were good from the start.

Even Brady doesn’t/didn’t get the credit he deserves.

I believe it’s because the more traditional pocket passers skills are less obvious.... they are not physically visible (guys are either smaller, thinner, not runners, cerebral, etc). “It must be the system or situation that helps them”, etc.

Mahommes “looks the part”. It’s easy to see where he’s good because you see it more obvious when it’s physical skills that jump out. So, I can see why people fall for Mahommes easily. And... he deserves it. Just saying it’s easy to see with a player like him.

Not sure who Goff reminds me of exactly... probably more of Dan Marino but with a different body type.

In 15 seasons people will talk of hot young QBs reminding them of Goff. And Foolio will still be ranting.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. They are not going to let a two time pro bowler with back to back 100 plus QB rating and NFC Championship walk. A 24 year old who's 24-7 the past two years and 2 playoff wins under his belt. A GM does that and he better find a top 5 quarterback real fast. Otherwise he's looking for a job. No one's gonna let a proven quarterback who's still a few years from his prime just walk away. Those are the kind of moves that are job killers.

There will be no superbowl hangover with this team thanks to Goff. He's even keel.
Goff, never takes credit when he plays extraordinary and always puts the blame on himself when things go awry....Calm, cool, collected, never shows up his receivers and gets up after taking big hits...No Drama, just a player...I'm good with McVay/Goff for the next decade...What say you?
This is the reason why there will be no Super Bowl hangover for the Rams, because of Goff. He'll come out and perform, the same way he always has. With the intention on getting better, rather than putting the soul focus of having something to prove.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...-extension-will-get-done?campaign=Twitter_atn

Sean McVay is sick of hearing it suggested that he is a magician who can succeed with any quarterback, therefore the Los Angeles Rams don't need to pay Jared Goff a Carson Wentz-type of deal.

The coach told NFL Network's Michael Silver on Thursday he's fed up with the suggestion that the Rams aren't committed to Goff long-term.

"Whether it ends up happening this year or next year, there is a zero percent chance this guy's not gonna get an extension he's worthy of," McVay said. "All the narratives out there are wrong. Jared and I couldn't be more connected, and I couldn't be more appreciative of him as our leader. He is so vital and important to us and our success. That extension will get done. It's a matter of when, not if."
Phew. That is about as strong a rebuke of a media-driven narrative a coach gets.

The lecture follows speculation that the Rams might be hesitant to lock down Goff because McVay is the puppet-master who is the sole reason for the quarterback's success, and therefore L.A. might balk at paying him $30-plus-million per season on a new deal, especially after his struggles in the Super Bowl.

At the very least, the idea that McVay could take any quarterback, like, Blake Bortles, for instance, and spin golden magic belies the reality of the relationship a coach and quarterback build over time and how much that plays into the success and yearly development.

For his part, Goff isn't fretting about his next deal with the Rams, knowing his payday is on the horizon so long as he stays healthy and continues his yearly improvement under McVay.

Goff is on the Rams' books for the next two seasons of his rookie contract, at salaries of $4.26 million and $22.783 million, respectively, then L.A. owns the ability to wield the franchise tag for an additional two seasons. Theoretically, the Rams could employ Goff for the next four seasons (at escalating salaries) without giving him a long-term deal.

L.A. notoriously took a long time to pay Aaron Donald before making him the highest-paid defender in the NFL (briefly). Even if the front office takes a similar approach to Goff's contract, McVay insists he's found his long-term quarterback.

Florio's been backpedaling pretty hard since McVay started speaking out. Pretty much denying he said any of the things that were recorded, posted on his website or put into print.

Now he's saying Goff could price himself off the Rams by demanding 40 million or more a year. Ah whatever.

it's not him, it's the rest of the world. we don't understand the "nuances" of his complex thoughts.

You don't have to sell me on Kurt, it's the only QB Jersey I will ever don, however, and although I appreciate everyone's feedback, that Patty Mahomes IMO is special, but let's see how he handles not having Hill as Goff now has Cooper Kupp back.
I agree that Mahomes looks the part and may even be the best young QB out there. But that wimpy left handed throw is about the worst example of his talent. It just makes me ill when the media keeps tripping over his jock for THAT play.

The Rams learned the hard way after parting ways with Kurt Warner. It cost them YEARS of mediocrity. This front office and coach would never let that happen. Only the media hacks can dream this crap up. Goff will be a superstar in LA for many years.

Florio was probably feeling insignificant. So he comes up with something people will talk about. People have been talking about it so he got what he wanted. McVay shoots it down so either Florio doubles down on his stupidity or he goes on to something else. Its funny how someone could just come up with an off the wall opinion and all of sudden it gains steam. That is what we get these days with social media and other internet outlets.
