NFL needs to get control of the shirts hanging out of uniforms. Unilaterally across the league it's a sloppy and shitty look IMO.

I think it's funny to see defensive players from both Detroit and Indiana signal touchdown and look at the refs to make sure. I never saw that before and then 2 this year. And that Indiana D parted like the red sea it was so obvious.

Atlanta lost not 1, but 2 games this season where they had a legit 99.9% chance of winning. Just amazing

What was the down and distance on the play? You hear Ryan say get the first.

Seems like he had to get to the second level to get the first down, leaving only a couple yards between there and the goal line.

And he stumbled breaking 2 tackles...defense still has to own giving up the TD to the Lions.

Sucks

It was 1st and goal on the lions 10 yard line. I just read a story where the coach said he told him to stop at the 1 yard line. Really? He has that little faith in his kicker that taking a knee at the 10 yard line is somehow not the right play?

It was 1st and goal from the 10. I don't know who said the coach told him to stop on the one. That would be stupid beyond stupid. I heard the huddle with Ryan saying to get the first down and get down - don't score. Also showing no awareness. With 1:04 left, you would logically want to run the clock down and make the other team burn time outs. Running play to score on 3rd down and if that fails, kick the gimme chip shot.

But ATL has a way of snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory so....

I've watched Gurley a few times this season and on that play it really shows. He either doesn't have confidence in sticking his foot in the turf or simply can't anymore. It sucks for him because he could have been a great one.

Or his defense.

And the “get the first” makes no sense on first and goal.

Here are my thoughts on this...

The anonymous Ram staff member who said that Gurley can no longer put his foot in the dirt and change direction at all... well that seems to be completely confirmed on that play.

Or worse... He just doesn't give enough of a fuck to care one bit about winning or losing anymore. Remember, it's been confirmed that everyone was told NOT TO SCORE A TD right before the play happened.

What a mess that was. It's really hard to believe almost. I gotta say... I loved him as a Ram, but I'm happy he's gone now.

He looked like he legitimately tried to stop short of the end zone, but just couldn't do it. That leads me to believe that your first theory is the correct one.

However, I think it's pathetic that a team has so little confidence in its defense that scoring a TD is somehow a bad thing.
