I don't remember that but I do remember co defensive coordinators John Bunting and Peter Giunta which, I believe lasted all of one season. Yes, the 1999 Super Bowl season under Vermeil.
Should have kept that way, however, Martz wanted one DC & chose Giunta over Bunting because he wanted to bring in Mike Haluchack as the LB Coach. Huge mistake as Giunta was fired a year later which ushered in Lovie Smith.

I did not say his comments were inappropriate at all. I don't know how you deciphered that. My comments were commentary on the NFL's practice of minority hirings. Maybe before accusing someone of inappropriate comments you should please ask about it first.
Touche.

That was pretty FREAKING- OBVIOUS!!! An excellent move & The Rams are LUCKY to have him back.

IMO he is better than Mike Lafleur?
We’ll see what happens though ?

Having Dave Ragone in the mix along with Rob Calabrese .Who knows Joe Flacco is a backup next season.Crazier things have happened. He seems more of a East Coast guy though.

Having Kingsbury back again made sense as well.It gives Sean Mcvay someone to feed ideas off of & bring something NEW & EXCITING to the table.I thought it was KOOL he went went full CIRCLE & back with The Rams.BEST part was THE RAMS have sort of OWNED The Cards since he was there & in FACT since The RAMS have been back from ST.LOUIS to LA !!

Curious rule.

FREAKING Niners have gotten LUCKY !! The rule IMO is STUPID when you look at who they got COMP PICKS from(for) ??

Salais again ????? Really & Mcdonald ???? DeMeco Ryans is serious legit.Yes and if Raheem gets another HC job good for him.Why he got fired for finishing the season didn’t seem right.
Maybe it was Cousins that made them good. Robinson getting another OC job ? Talk about a HC that should have gotten FIRED(Tampa Bay)

He was only there for a year - so no - they don't get comp pics for him.
Thank Goodness!!

It is going to be interesting how Raheem does in SF !! Sort of lost respect for him after the Tampa Bay win.He looked in the camera & lost his chit in celebration. Was not a good look,he had a lot of frustration.

I wanted Raheem to loss, only because he put himself in that situation trading that 1st RD Pick to The Rams.As Rams Fans we wanted a Top 5 Pick.

It looked good until that Thursday Night Game against Tampa. He won his last 4 games & almost made the playoffs. He basically doubled his wins & The Falcons beat The Rams !!

I wonder about that James Pearce jr situation? His career might be in jeopardy? Bail was only $20,000 though & he might get off easy ??

Go Cyclones !!!

Just saw that Nate Scheelhaase is the "Offensive Coordinator".

Dave Ragone is NOT A "Co-Offensive Coordinator".

Ragone is just: Quarterbacks/Associate Coordinator

That's right...ASSOCIATE!

Whatever the reason... there are fewer black HCs in the NFL than last year.

Jeff Hafley and Jesse Minter get HC jobs before someone like Vance Joseph and Brian Flores.. why? IDK. If we're talking about "merit".. well.. Joseph and Flores had better Defenses and longer track records with previous HC experience.

Based on the number of coaches fired/hired.. I'd say that, whatever the process, many NFL teams are just bad at hiring coaches.

When we can admit that the process is subjective and flawed, we can start to be open to different possibilities.

There are a litany of reasons why Flores did not get a HC job and maybe will never get another one again (whether you agree with them or not). Joseph probably deserves another shot at it but I have no problem with people passing him over too as his first go around as HC was underwhelming.

Minter by all means has been talked up for awhile and you have to like his resume. Hafley I have no clue about... which I guess could point to how deserving he might be.

Agree that regardless of all this, the hiring process is flawed. It'll never happen but pushing the coaching hiring cycle to after the superbowl would solve a lot of issues (and probably have some knock on affect to equity)... logistically it's probably a nightmare and non-starter though.

But you've just kind of highlighted the essence of the problem..

Observationally.. it's waaaaaaaaaaay more common and easier for white re-treads to get hired than for black re-treads. And part of the "imperfect process" is the human element. That's why the idea that all the coaches that got hired were "the best guy for the job" is nonsense and should explain why we have programs to open the doors for more minority hires. Instead of reactively thinking it's an attack on everyone and implies everyone is racist.. as opposed to understanding that human beings are flawed and the process is flawed. We know, from life, people like hiring and working with people they feel comfortable with.. and race and it's common experiences in our culture are a part of creating that comfort level and that *discomfort level.

You don't have to be a racist yourself, at all, imo, to be part of a process and system that results in racially imbalanced outcomes.
