So if this team plays well I get to say the same to you right? This would mean you are gambling against the Rams being successful. What does that say about you as a fan?
I’m not referring to the overall football analysis, which seems good.
It’s referring to your unhealthy obsession.

Go Rams.

Nick Scott took Fuller's job. If Nick can do it, it's not out of the question that one of the new young guys could do it as well. Lake began his rookie season with an injury from college, but he was a real baller in college and has a ton of potential.
Jordan Fuller has been a Rams starting safety for The Rams since Day 1 he became a Ram basically,
He NEVER got beat out by Nick Scott. It was due to injury.Remember that guy Weedle had to come out of retirement for ? TR is gone.
-I like the Jason Taylor Kid better than Lake.If you’re saying JORDAN FULLER isn’t starting then I’ll question that, because of NOW he is way ahead of the Safety’s.
—This Jason Taylor kid is going to be special IMO from just watching him in college & seeing what he has been doing in OTA’s.
RIGHT NOW I don’t know JACK,
except Jordan Fuller is one of The Rams Veterans who is mentoring who was a big part of The Rams winning the Superbowl.

I'm not being demeaning when I say tackles are an overrated stat.
JJ is a really good player, he's not a difference maker.

Taylor Rapp graded out better than him in PFF and they had similar numbers.

I just think that they'll go with the guys on the roster in hopes of developing them, moving forward.

PERFECT answer!! Now that positive, unless you’re saying The Rams safety’s need extra help?
Jordan Fuller was starting his rookie year & was better than both Rapp & JJ if tackles don’t matter.Just saw what you posted to Oldbutnotdead.
Wondering your frame on the 2023 safeties?IMO Jason Taylor in the next 3 seasons has a higher upside than JJ.Still don’t know where he is on the depth charts.

I'd agree Fuller stays around this year because he's the "vet". But as much as they try to chalk up his injury as the reason he didn't see the field as much the last 2 years....the reality is that Nick Scott took his job and was the better option for us. That's why I think after this coming season, I could see Fuller moving on assuming our young guys develop.
Yeah, I can’t see him getting another contract. This Rams organization has let average players move on. They pay the stars.

Yeah I agree I'm not sure what a S leading the team in tackles amounts to either, but it was our #1 ranked D year. I think his character and leadership (he was our green dot too) as Elmgrovegnome pointed out adds up to making him a difference-maker. I still wouldn't want him for a big price tag--doesn't fit what we seem to be doing for this year.

I think he was an important part of that defense, for sure.

If we were talking about which player you wanted for that year, I would pick JJ, no questions asked.
This year? Not so much.
They have a really smart guy who's a good communicator in Fuller to lead them... and they need to develop the young guys and to see what they have. Yeast and Lake are different bodies and I'm wondering who wins out between the two.

I just don't think putting him on the field moves the team forward as much as getting the young guys reps will.

But I'm not throwing any dirt on JJ.

So should The Rams have kept there Super Bowl starting MLB Troy Reeder ?

WTF - Man really. Troy Hill got paid as well & came back last season. He had 3 defensive TD’s in 2020. Micah Kiser was 3rd on The Rams with 77 tackles.

My guess is besides dissing on Fuller you dis on Raheem Morris as well? I like the youth, but Lake vs. Fuller ?

You also have to look at what Jordan Fuller has done as a Ram & how short some Ram Fans seem to forget about players,or what The coaching staff is saying about what’s going on in practice (OTA’s) ? It’s early, but as you state one thing don’t mistake another to make a weak point.

Well I’ll put him 3 years under & bury JJ43 as a RAM! I would have rather D. Cook & George Kittle than J.Everett & JJ43(plus ? another pick?)

Excellent post on Fuller & Youth.
I like Yeast better than Lake who was an old rookie vs. a young guy in yeast.
-This Taylor is a young player from TT who is underrated. Who were those Great TT WR’s The Rams had ? Danny & ?
—Fuller is UNDERRATED & going to be solid. In 2020 he made so many BIG TIME tackle on 3rd downs that got The Rams off the field. If he doesn’t make those plays he would have had more tackles.
—Funny thing was Troy Reeder did the same in 2020.in 2021 he did well, but teams found his weaknesses. In 2021 Superbowl it was Ernest Jones who started at MLB. Reeder was done as a Ram.
—Rams should bring back Morgan Fox - lmao.

No question Fuller lost his starting job due to injury. But Nick Scott played great football once he got his chance, and when last season started.....my hope was that we'd see Fuller and Scott as our starting safeties, but that wasn't the case. Fuller played in 3 of our first 4 games last season, but Nick Scott had the starting job. Nick earned it after Jordan got heard, and made some huge plays for us in the post season.

I'm a Jordan Fuller fan....him coming in as such a late round pick, and starting as a rookie for what would be the #1 defense in the league was a testament to him, and to our overall player development. But Nick Scott outplayed Fuller overall and earned the spot.

Taylor seems like a real go getter, but don't count out Quentin Lake. He drafted higher than Yeast (and a round higher than Taylor was this year) for a reason.... Yeast got on the field before Lake because Lake was injured until November.

I'm actually kind of excited about our Safety group, and looking forward to the competition they'll have in camp and the preseason. I think we're in good shape there.

We missed Fuller big time. Hoping he's ready to go this year and if so it should be a lot easier for that back end to be on the same page. Filling one safety role... It's possible. Lot of "if's" on defense but still teams do have safeties come out of nowhere, they're like the RBs of defense. I don't have a great feel for the guys who will be competing for it but if they're competing for one job that's not so bad.

We're basically short one corner and one safety. Not ideal but if Fuller / Durant / Tomlinson are quality and we get a little bit of rush help next to AD there's room for a decent defense. I can't wait to see these guys compete at the safety spots though. August can't get here fast enough.

Taylor Rapp was to small imo.He didn’t cover well either. When Staley became The Rams DC Rapp was sitting a lot more.
—Eric Weedle helped Nick Scott get tonthat next level. He carried it into 2022. IMO Jordan Fuller was NEVER a 109%.

I’d feel a lot better about our Safety room if it weren’t for all the injuries.

Any ideas on why that is?

I rarely spend any time wondering about ex-Rams so I'm out of the loop.
He got PAID,so how much does Football mean to him? He has lost a step & was never fast.Didn’t do much in Cleveland.
Seems like a system safety.Doesn’t play special teams.

Think The Rams want to get younger. There’s probably a team that signs him.

He was pretty bad in Cleveland after he signed his deal. Not sure why. Additionally, safety, is not a really highly valued position in football and teams probably are more inclined to go younger and cheaper at the position unless guys are top of the league. That's certainly been our strategy since McSnead has been around (with the caveat that we brought in one of the best one's to ever do it in Eric Weddle).

That makes sense.

Plus... you know... we're talking about Cleveland.
