Anybody see one of these called this year? SeeN plenty and no calls?

Kept thinking I’d see one vs the Eagles today.

Another useless NFL rule.

I personally have not seen one called. They might as well get rid of it. It is called so rarely, it almost would feel unfair to whoever gets flagged for it now. :O

It’s a player safety call. They will likely only call it when the tackler rolls up with the runner’s legs underneath.

But no, I’ve seen a few without the legs rolled up, and they don’t call it consistently within the rules.

Maybe the rule is working (in part) as it's intended-- as a deterrent. Maybe NFL coaches are coaching their players to avoid the hip-drop so they don't invite a flag?

If it's called infrequently, many might argue that's a good thing.

Now they just gotta invent a rule to prevent Kirby Joseph from internationally trying to aim for knees and end careers.

Yep that’s why coaches don’t teach their players to go helmet to helmet right?

That’s why the NFL doesn’t have refs incentivize 15 yards and an ejection from the game for hits on a defenseless WR?

Does making this illegal stop them?

Yes or no?

This argument is invalid.

Your honor, the plaintiff rests their case.

I should have been a lawyer…. Meh… maybe not then I’d have a know it all attitude then. :laugh4:

I'd argue (your honor) that things like helmet-to-helmet hits have gone WAY DOWN since the rules against them were implemented.

We've all seen the highlight videos of players getting absolutely DESTROYED by H-2-H hits and "defenseless WR" knockout shots. Especially in the 80's and 90's.

Yeah, those crazy shots still happen, but it seems like they've gone down in frequency.
