I saw a hard nosed disciplined team last night. They don't have a ton of Star players per se but, the work they put in is evident on the field. Coach Campbells no nonsense leadership is really a fascinating thing to watch. The Lions will definitely be my B team this year.

I hope Jared does well, but I know he's got a ceiling and his success will always require near-perfect conditions around him.
If he has those, he can do some really, really good things.

Seems like a very solid young man as well.

The turn around with Goff in Detroit is validation of what I've always said especially when he was a Ram. The problem with Goff in LA was not Jared but McVay. McVay can do no wrong in LA but he does, and people simply ignore it. He had a top talent in Goff and didn't see it because Goff "wasn't his guy". He sabotaged Goff by holding him in the huddle until there was only 15 seconds left then criticized his inability to read. Funny in Detroit Goff reads defenses just fine.

Make no mistake McVay can be petty. That's why they will try to draft "McVay's choice" for QB1. If they can't they will look for a Vet to trade for in 2025.

I think Goff looked exactly the way he did with us last night. Reminded me a lot of our old offense actually.

Goff didn't read the defenses well enough under us. I think what you're referring to is Goff developing that part of his game. McVay has his warts like any coach does, but to say he's a problem is worse than your Havenstein love. Could McVay have had more patience for Goff? Sure, but if that happened, we also possibly never win the Super Bowl.

I'm not so sure about that. They're both different QBs and both go thru progressions different. That's all that was pointed out.

Situations dictate progressions.
1 qb had zero timeouts, with under 30 seconds left in the 4th trying to get into fg range. The other was trying to take time off the clock while taking the lead (and they did). Completely different situations. Had Goff followed that guys advice they leave pat with more than 3 mins to do something.
Context matters

So you're telling me it would have been bad to score? Especially in a game where the Chiefs were struggling and at best would have tied the game? Sorry, that just doesn't make sense to me.

Then you didn't watch the cards/steelers sb. Had Warner did what Goff did he wins his 2nd sb on a different team. Instead he took the wide open Fitz and left to much time on the clock and lost. Playing TOP against a great QB makes perfect sense.

In a game where Mohamoes WRs were struggling bad? I guarantee you the Lions would take a TD there every time. That's where we agree to disagree. The way their coach is tells me he'd be more than ok with that. You bite knee caps off at that team :laugh1:

No worries. It was interesting to have the play broken down like that with 2 different QBs. It is however a copy cat league so coaches definitely use each others stuff.

That's fine if you think pat recievers are just gonna keep playing bad but I wouldn't test that theory. I rather leave the gm in my qb hands vs pats hand everytime. I guarantee you they rather burn clock and score vs score on that play leaving 3-4 mins on the clock. The former we know for a fact wins the gm.
