No you don't understand, brother. The fact that it hurts is the reason why it's bullcrap. I'm not asking people to look through rose colored glasses and be stupidly optimistic....I'm just asking that people not lose perspective due to their feelings. It is one thing to say the o line is bad and that we need to fix a couple things and lead a fruitful discussion on the subject....that's realistic and productive. What is NOT ok is to lose total faith in the team while simultaneously acting like we are the Patriots fallen from grace. You want to be realistic? Let's be realistic. THE RAMS ARE NOT A DYNASTY. Not yet. There is a long way to go for that to be true. We have to actually win a championship first. So why in the world be so offended or act so surprised when all of a sudden we look average for a few weeks.

I was never one of the silly people who said we were beginning a Dynasty. That notion ended abrubtly when we lost to the Patriots in the super bowl.... again!!! I don't think we'll ever be a dynasty. The NFL doesn't work that way anymore. I would however love to at least make the playoffs 7 years out of 10. Right now I have lost faith in the team. That does NOT make me a fairweather fan. Losing faith does not = stopping loving and rooting for the team. But my own eyes have just seen some very disheartening things so I've currently lost faith in that we can win enough games this season. Sorry. I'm me and you're you.

To be fair, I'm sorry that I wasnt more specific, I was not referring directly to you in saying that the Rams are not a dynasty. Just more generally to the whole fan base. Please don't feel as if I am attacking you because I promise that is not my intent. I am very passionate about Rams football, if I were not I wouldnt have made this thread.

I've been on plenty of threads posted since the Niners loss and I have not seen anything you've mentioned. You must be talking about the vent thread? I feel what's said in the vent thread should stay in the vent thread, considering it's for our ridiculous overreactions. Most members here have talked about reasonable and logical solutions to our problems. I dont think one thread sums up the entire boards content.

We've lost 3 in a row, 2 of which are important division games to two of our most hated rivals, we have injuries all over the place and the team is playing like complete shit. I wouldn't expect anything but people to be upset and pessimistic. I love my Rams and always will but until they show me something to give me faith for the rest of the season i'm going to have much right now

Here is my point, I gravitated towards ROD before the McVay era because it was a great place to retreat to when the Rams were mired in mediocrity. It didn't hurt to be a fan inside the confines of this forum. Now the script has flipped and I cant escape my feelings by retreating to ROD because of the top 10 posts, 8 of them are garbage. Gone are the days when we were a band of brothers bonded strongly by the love of the team and the game. Through thick or thin, win or lose we found asylum here.

Frickin genius post, brother, bravo.

Seriously, one of the best posts I’ve read on ROD ever, all time. Thank you.

What can I say— IMHO, there are two types of fans here: real fans (the vast majority) and (a few but loud) toxic fans.

I love it that under McVay, the Rams players postgame word to rally around is: “FAMILY.”

Same goes for fans. To a certain extent, real Rams fans feel like an extended family. Some are more positive, while others share and withering eyes-wide-open criticisms of the team. But at the end of the day, real fans SUPPORT this team— even when they feel compelled to express their concerns.

On the other hand are “toxic” fans, who take a troll-like pleasure out of incessant doom-and-gloom posts with over-the-top negativity. Their presence in the GDT is awful, but lately the toxicity has been bleeding into the regular forum, too. By “toxic”, I mean so-called fans whose posts are OVERWHELMINGLY negative. The “cancer in the locker room” types.

To real fans: I salute you. To toxic fans: if several posters have reacted to your constant bitching by suggesting you STFU already, please consider taking their advice.

We are as strong as our weakest link, and that weak link is the Oline. Ye, we have some strong parts of the team.
In comparing a famous unsinkable ship whose name we all know, but will go unsaid. It was made with "strong Irish hands" in Belfast. Harland and Wolfe made her strong, with thick steel plate and Robert Ismay of White Star Lines said "God Himself could not sink her!"

The fastest, most advanced, luxurious ship of her day, met an iceberg in the North Atlantic and the result has made her the most tired example, however apt, that I can think of. The strength of the ship had holes in its sides. No matter how glorious her specific advantages and beauty, the holes in her side doomed her. Those strong engines could not power her away from the dire situation, and the new Marconi wireless could not raise help in time.

We have holes in the side and and few acceptable ways to fix it that I can see. I could explain the rest as far as the running game and the passing game being reliant on a decent Oline. I dare say this Oline is as bad as some of the Fisher Olines or before, and it came suddenly (at least to me). Maybe we can get Cody Wichmann, Eric Kush, and Tim Barnes back to replace some of these palookas?....ouch.

Honestly, barring another major injury, I really dont want the rams to trade for any top O-Line talent this year. Let Goff get the experience of adversity post success. Hopefully he comes out of it better for the battle. This may be a fool's wish, I dont know. Please correct me if it is. I want this team to actually draft some top talent to fill in the line. I dont think it wise, as some suggest, for snead to be shopping the 1st round pick again. Will 1 elite o line talent this year propel us to the super bowl? I dont know man, I'm not sold on the idea. I do suppose anything is possible though. So I'd say I agree with you when you say that you see few acceptable ways to fix it. The thing is, though, is that I'm ok with who this team is because I know it's not who it once was. This team could start clicking at any time man and that's the honest to God truth. Even if it doesn't, though, I'm ok with tooling up for next year via draft and FA.

I don't desire to be negative but we all saw the game yesterday.
We just lost 3 in a row. Two at home. It hurts when you're a devout Ram fan like I am. It hurts, so its plenty understandable that many of us say negative things, because well, the team is playing very negative right now. Yes we have injuries galore. But lots of other teams have injuries and many of them are winning.

I'm still completely loyal to my Rams, and will watch every minute of every game. But there's some crazy stuff going on right now with play calling and defensive philosophy. Of course we do not bench Goff. But I'm kinda on the side that I think this should be Wade's last season. I'd love to go 4-3 with a whole new philosophy in there, that involves more blitzes.

Do you really think we're going to get better as the season goes on?

Here's the most important question I have for you sir. Do you think we will make the playoffs?
The Rams and Eagles sort of remind me of one another.
Tons of talent and recognizable names.
Offenses struggle early on games.
Sitting at .500.
The Rams are totally capable of running of 3 wins in a row. I think they go 2-1, but, who knows?
Will Talib on IR now more adjustments on D before Atlanta.

I've been following the Rams since 1967. I've travelled to watch Rams live games in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, St.Louis, Seattle....and SB XIV in Pasadena.....so I have time and money invested in my affection for The Horns.
Why do I passionately follow the Rams?
For entertainment. For enjoyment......and I'm into my 53rd NFL season of doing so!

Given my investment, if the Ram product-on-the-field sucks, who is going to tell me not to kvetch and complain about the drop in quality, huh?
Who.....the OP writer?? He's gonna tell me I can't go negative in my posts???? Listen, I was negative on Georgia TheBlackWidow Frontiere, on Jay BaseballGuy Zymunt, on Scotty Flounder Linehan, on Jimbo HazMat, on Steve LittleNapolean Spagnuolo, Jeff FratHouseRules Fisher et al....and I will continue to complain about other folks I see screwing-up the Rams.

The OP writer says Wade Phillips D is better than Jeff Fisher's Ram D's of the past were. Um....that's Bullshit if you research PPG allowed! Look it up.
So if I want to post that the game seems to have passed the 72 year old Wade Oldman&TheD Phillips by.....then I will do just that!

Similarly, if I want to post that Aaron Kromer seems overrated TO ME as a groomer of fine OLine talent, when he sold McSnead the koolaid about Noteboom and Allen being capable replacements for Saffold and Sullivan, then I am going to write a post about it!
That doesn't make me disloyal or unfaithful to the Rams. It makes me an attentive and informed fan.

This is a Rams Talk Forum. Fans are free to come here and express their opinions on the Rams. Nobody should be scolding Rams fans about their opinions. You can disagree with my opinions, hopefully with some facts......but don't lecture adults about what their posts and opinions signify about them. That's called "projection".....and IMO nobody here needs to be told what to post, or not to be negative. We should all be free to post as we wish.

It would be a fooking boring world if we all thought the same!

The Rams went "all in"last season. Sadly, we fell short but that means we may have expended more than we could afford last season. And due to injuries this season, we are feeling the pain. I trust McVay to right the ship and get to to contend for a playoff spot and address our glaring needs next season. We went for it last year and fell short. There is a price to pay unfortunately.

Show me where I said that Wade's D is any better than the Fisher D. Please good sir, I'll wait.

This has become a problem and it seems that people like you cant take an objective look in the mirror? Instead of looking inside you want to get defensive and say "you ain't gonna tell me what to do!". Whatever man, no sweat off my back.

There is a big problem at ROD when people want to post negative things in a thread that is literally titled "Any Positives?".

Perhaps it is just an immaturity thing, I don't know.

I just want to say that I am a true fan and have been since I saw the Rams on a black and white TV in a barber shop with my dad getting a hair cut. I loved watching Roman throwing to Jack along with Rosey and Deacon on the DL. True fans live and die with there team and it is not easy to shake off the defeats, it takes time. These last 3 games have been tough to stomach and as fans we just watch helplessly realizing there is nothing we can do to change the impact of the game. I am sorry to say I am back to the days of recording the games and only watching them if they win. This has allowed me to spend more time with my family and hopefully allowed me to become a better human being. I know this may sound messed up to some who are not true fans but this is the life of a true die hart Ram fan, to death do us part!

Looked to me that some of the Ram's Potemkin village burned up on Sunday, not Rome.

Next few weeks will reveal what's left.

There are 31 teams in this league trying really fucking hard to win every week. We are one of them. They cannot all win every week and so why should we expect the Rams to?

I think because we were so bad for so long, followed by the explosion of the last two years, that we've collectively forgotten what a normal team looks like. You know, a team that looks great one week and has a few stinkers in there too. There are probably 20 teams in this league who will hover around .500 and this season we are one of them. And you know what? That's fine.

Just chill, we have the right leadership in place to bounce back, whether that's this week or next season. Couple of favourable matchups coming up, we could easily be looking at 5-3 at the bye, and then it will be plenty optimistic round here.

There is plenty of space online for fans to find a place that caters to their vitriol. Your post sort of ignores or forgets this places origins as an alternative to the piss and vinegar soaked message boards where the basic internet ingrates offer incessant negativity.

There is a thin (blue and gold?) line between ROD and a YouTube comments thread and it's defined by the standards the mods and posters have set for themselves. This place wasn't designed to be a safe place for the chronically bitchy, but for the fans who want to discuss their team without wading upstream through pages of doom and gloom.
Someone's financial investments into this team or length of tooth as a fan doesn't give them a pass to make this place reflect their own misery or change the standards that made this place so great in the decade of depression. If we all wanted another 2007 era post dispatch ramstalk board or a YouTube comments thread, all we have to do is let the most toxic run the show.

Sure, our 3 game losing streak has sadly validated the bullshit they have been pushing since before 1 and 0, through 3 and 0 and promising to be here at 3 and 13 or 13 and 3.

If it's in the GDT or a vent thread, there is a place for it. Like a shooting range, we ask they fire their shots in a certain area that won't riddle the other areas with their bullets. Yes, they have their rights but we can't have everyone shooting in the street.
Vent threads after wins, negativity in a positives thread, the GDT being pure unfiltered angst and despair if we are winning or not....

I just don't want to see the loudest, angriest and most emotional posting become the rule and not the exception. Then ROD is just like anywhere else.
It's obvious it's not just one or two posters who are weary of it. Where there is smoke there's fire.
At best this season promises to be a stressful one and at worst it will get unbearable fast if we let the Jokers run Arkham.

Jmo opinion as a lowly nobody.
