Personally I would rather see Gurley transition to the role of pass catching 3rd down back out of the backfield.

Can still make a big impact there while limiting the pounding. Its a natural progression if he is to have a long career.

I can guarantee that guys like Kamara & McCaffery will follow that path. Right now they do it all just as Gurley was in his first 4 years, but that can't last.

And those type guys can still make big impacts in their later 20's even if they only get 12-15 touches a game.
This is what people don’t understand. The Rams have seen Gurley banged up by seasons end up and took a long look at how they want to extend his career. No reason to run him into the ground by the time he’s 28. He’s still on pace for a little over 200 carries.

RBs rarely play their long contract out and I believe the Rams looked at the situation and realized they would rather have a very good Gurley for 5 more years rather then an elite Gurley for two.

My wife works at an insurance company and today is "jersey day" at her work. She is wearing my Todd Gurley blue and yellow road jersey. I told her if anyone at work asks her, tell them, "The knee is fine, I will be ready on Sunday."

How many times does Gurley have to be a question mark before fans think there’s really an issue.

McVay didn’t seem happy that Gurley's injury was a surprise to him. Gurley has a reputation for hiding stuff going back to HS when he played in a championship game with 2 sprained ankles.

Gurley may be sick of getting the health question repeatedly, but he brings a lot of that on himself. Plus, hes not the most entertaining interview by a long shot.

Many fans feel compelled to defend him for whatever reason. To me this is a performance business, and Gurley got paid a ton of money to produce. I say, how about producing commensurate with your salary. Where are the big runs that go with making $70M? I haven’t seen one since the Dallas playoff game.

There's just no room to run. People forget that we lost Saffold and Sullivan and are starting 2 young guys in the middle. In fact, Noteboom is grading as one of the worst Guards in the league right now. If you watched the Seattle game at all you would see Gurley was breaking multiple tackles on some of his runs.

I watched ALL the games on all-22. I was at the Panthers game and watched him very closely. He just doesn't have the same jump cut that he had. The explosion that was his trademark isn't there.

I realize that the blocking upfront has been subpar, but the great ones still make big plays every now and then even with bad OLs. Gurley hasn't broken a run over 25 yards since the Dallas game last season.

Neither Zeke or Kamara have broken runs longer that 28 yards this season. Yet everyone still views them as elite.

Neglecting the OL. Biggest dynasty killer their ever was. When the smoke clears and we see the wreckage at the end of the year I hope the Rams can rebuild the OL quickly and not waste this massively talented team.

I haven't watched Zeke, but I have watched Kamara and I saw him make an amazing run after a catch this year.

Thats nice but you were talking about runs not catches. Its easy to back up your opinion when you cherry pick stats.

My concern about Henderson is whether he can pass protect.

Why pay Gurley $70M if we are not going to pay for an offensive line to block for him?

This is the problem when you become a good team you have to pick a spot to save money. We are paying a lot of guys a lot of money

Goff
Gurely
Cooks
Hav
Donald
Brockers
Fowler
Talib

Three of those guys are top tier contracts that eat up most of our cap. What's going to have to happen is we're going to have to draft some OL guys that can step in their rookie season and play well. Which is a lot to ask of a rookie at any position.

And here's the kicker. We have a lot of holes next season with our two starting corners becoming FAs. Our MLB and john Johnson. Not to mention if Everett continues his dominance we're going to have to pay him as well.
This offseason is going to be a tricky one as theres going to be a lot of holes that need to be filled or upgraded and that cost money.

That’s an interesting list.

How many of those guys would you be happy to be rid of next year if you could totally shed their cap hit?

You tell me.

If Gurley doesn’t play Sunday I expect Malcolm Brown to get more carries than Gurley has gotten in a given game this season.

I truly believe that McVay would like to deal Gurley for other pieces if he could. And if Malcolm Brown goes out and has 18 carries for 110 yards on Sunday, things will start to get really interesting.

Well I think Peter's and talib are both gone. Talib has def lost a step and it's just going to get worse. Look no further than what happened to Revis when father time caught up with him. We dont want to be in that boat.
Peter's will demand top dollar because hes a child and he thinks hes the shit. I dont see the rams spending top dollar on him. He however has been good this year. Nvm the Td he gave up to Evan's. Apparently he did exactly what his job was and Weddle is the one that missed the coverage. However Peter's tackling leaves something to be desired. And you can't pay him like a top 5 corner of he isn't a complete corner

I'd pay JJ and Littleton. They are great players, we just have to find a good compliment player to play next to them. Weddle is old and hagar/kiser are just stop gap players
