I could see Michael Pratt being an option to learn under Stafford. I think he’s been a bit underrated considering how many times he’s had to switch systems.
If the Raiders were to draft Penix (as I've seen mocked in a bunch of places) I'd gladly take Aiden O'Connell off their hands
He's intrigued me in mocks over the last couple of days. I've mocked him as high as 83 and felt perfectly good about it...On this topic ....
Charles Davis would bang the table for ....
Spencer Rattler
South Carolina · QB · Senior
I’ve seen progress from Rattler on and off the field over the past two seasons. He’ll probably go late on Day 2 or early on Day 3 of the draft, but there’s a reason he was once a highly touted prospect. Remember, this was a five-star recruit widely considered the best quarterback in his class. He eventually lost his starting job to Caleb Williams at Oklahoma in 2021 and then transferred to South Carolina after the season. His setback has become a comeback, though. Rattler was the Gamecocks' co-MVP in 2022 and then set school records for completions (275) and completion percentage (68.9) in 2023. He’s shown he has the tools and toughness to succeed. I feel good about this young man -- who has some Teddy Bridgewater in his game -- and his chances of making it in the NFL.
It’s funny how often the same guys always seem to be right there for the taking for us in the simulators. Then the real deal comes and all hell breaks loose in both directions. He's intrigued me in mocks over the last couple of days. I've mocked him as high as 83 and felt perfectly good about it...
I don't see the Rams worrying about a QB to learn under Stafford this year. To me it will be Stafgord and Jimmy G, and some warm body on the practice squad.I could see Michael Pratt being an option to learn under Stafford. Assuming Stafford plays 3 more years?I don't see the Rams worrying about a QB to learn under Stafford this year. To me it will be Stafgord and Jimmy G, and some warm body on the practice squad.
Next yr is when they might focus on a guy to come here on a 2 yr internship under Stafford.
I believe that is their hope and at the very least 2 yrs is likley. If he somehow got hurt this year and then retires, then I would guess next yr it would be Jimmy G and a high draft pick. I would be fine with that.Assuming Stafford plays 3 more years?
As of right now it doesn’t benefit to cut him as far as a roster spot and potential goes. It’s worth keeping him onboard at least through TC and probably pre season to. That’ll be enough to gauge where he is.I wonder if they knew Stetson would be back this year when they were trying to trade for Howell? They used a pretty high pick on Stetson, unless they are totally off on him because of his issues last year, perhaps they now still think he can be our future? My guess is they have huge doubts about him since he missed the entire season and didn't get any chance to develop. But, they saw something they clearly loved about him when they picked him, so who knows.
But will next year have as many QBs with starting potential. Pratt in round three could sit for a few years if they thought he had enough talent.I don't see the Rams worrying about a QB to learn under Stafford this year. I think Pratt is worth a shot. He’s got the character they like and ran three different offenses in college and was still lead all three teams well. If anyone loves football it’s this kid. He’d be a good one to sit and learn. If Bennett is back and things are resolved I think he has what they need in a backup QB. But when a player falls out like that teams tend to be wary. So I'd imagine he is on the bubble and may face a rookie challenge from this draft.
Clearly QB2 is a priority and with Jimmy this year it is covered. But it seems like they want a young ascending type in the backup role. So I'd imagine we see a round 4-7 addition.
And if they are sweet on any of the higher slotted QBs they are possibilities too. Keep saying for example that Penix is a fit. Don't know the personality and interview side but if that kid is there at 19 I would think long and hard before passing on him.
I think they would like to have that Green Bay setup, where the next guy is on the roster and vetted before they change over to him.
