As we've all noticed, red zone success has been a really dark spot for the team this season and a big struggle factor.

Looking at the stats, in the last three games we are last in the league with a 22,22% RZ percentage and an average 0.7 RZ TD per game.
Obviously this is no way to win playoff games.

I've been trying to see if that was coinciding with Whitworth's injury, but it seems not:

Week 1 to 10 -> 62.86 RZ% (Ranked 16th in the league) -> this is on par with a 64% in 2019, it's not great but not terrible.
Whitworth's injury is Week 10 against Seattle, Week 10 is the Bye. After that we have this :

W11 Buccaneers : 3-3 (3 TD for 3 Attempts)
W12 SF : 1-1
W13 AZ : 3-6
W14 Pats : 2-3
W15 Jets : 2-3
W16 Sea : 0-2
W17 AZ : 0-4

-> Total percentage from W13 to W17 : 36%

However it's probably right to attribute it in part to Goffs performance somehow as the numbers show his decrease in performance from the Miami Game.View attachment 42529

But as Goff wasn't playing yesterday when we had a 0-4 RZ performance, it can clearly not only be put on him.

What do you guys think ?
I put it all on the play calling. We ran it 4 straight times in Seattle and got stuffed. The 4th run over our 2 TEs. Goff is good down there, but we problem run it 75 to 80%. Only pass when have to. Very often when we do pass it is way short of the endzone.

I don't agree with that at all. I think the play calling could be better. The 4 runs when we failed I did not agree with. But in general its just as much lack of execution as play calling.

As i posted earlier...

against the cardinals

1st and goal at the 1 and two straight false starts... that killed the drive.

Akers fumbles at the 1 yard line.

Everetty drops a pass in the endzone.

It's not all play calling.

I focused on what I believe to be the main problem or the cause of the lack of execution if you like. I think the running the ball inside the 15 was working at first because it wasn't believed we could do it. Now no one believes we will pass because the odds say we won't. The play calls have gotten conservative and the D knows this. The D doesn't fear a pass in the endzone because we never throw in to the endzone. This in turn puts more pressure on the Line, the QB, everyone on offense to execute because the D knows what we call and we have to be perfect to make it work. Now the O has no confidence and they tend to make more mistakes, ie the execution suffers because the D blows it up. The O was way better when the play caller let things roll.

The redzone just amplifies the things you don't do well. If you have shitty pass pro it's gonna be worse down there. If you struggle to run the ball it's gonna be worse down there.

I think our issues of late are largely related to lack of a run game. But it is more than that. I think wrt McVay that his offense needs a run game to be potent in the redzone. Early this season that was happening. Of late it's been rough.

We could probably simplify all that too by saying it's mainly been the OL. So yeah not a surprise we're shitty down there during that stretch where the OL has been getting their asses handed to them in both the run game and pass sets.

Like I started another thread on Kevin O”Connell. I think he plays a role. His play calling(wtf he does?) is all right.
My thing with The Rams offense is so much has changed since he has become The Rams OC. Where is anything printed about this dude? Does he get a free pass?
-We will see what The Future brings with Kevin O’Connell. To me it is
MIND-BLOWING
Then again The Rams have a young RB core with so many options that they lose out on consistency.
Todd Gurley was(is) a TD machine.Has a nose for the Goal Line.
Yeah, I thought KoC would help, but I haven't been impressed or unimpressed with him. I'm not sure what the hell he does, but nothing has gotten better since he arrived.

sort of weird to me Staley is the Man & know one knows a thing about Kevin O’Connell. Then fire the special teams coach?

Rams haven't scored an offense TD since the Jets game. When Hill returned that interception, he started stumbling about the 10 or 15 yard line, I yelled out don't fall, don't fall, we'll never make it into the end zone if you do!

Yikes. Since the Jets? And it's not like they have had goal line chances.

What do you think about Webster?

How dobThe Rams improve there offense?

I thought the way The Rams handled Wolford running helped settle him in.Showed toughness. The first downrun to seal the game was huge.

Webster? He seems sure handed but makes some bonehead decisions, and isn't a threat at all. I think there's a chance to improve at both return spots.

Improve the Offense? Bolster the OL and go get a Deep Threat and 50/50 ball guy. Also, run more 12 personel next season. Adios Reynolds and Everett.

Agree about Wolf, was hard not to be excited about him. I feel there was several times he escaped and made plays and/or first downs with his feet that Goff doesn't it takes a sack (and that's not a knock on Goff, that's just not his game).

I don’t know how you blame the Offensive line & how it won’t continue to get better from how deep the Rams are with youth.

Wolford had time to throw.I also wonder if The Rams try to upgrade & if Perkins will be a NFL quality.
Blake Bortles is using a roster spot right now.

Aykers seemed like he was a step slow.Henderson is injured again?

Webster to me has improved throughout the season.Jefferson takes Reynolds spot, but yes a deep threat or stud WR would be nice.

Everett is solid, but at what price. The Rams drafted Hopkins so yes the writing is sort of on the wall.

GOAL LINE SOLUTION (free of charge, thank me later):

Even if Goff starts, run this play as outlined below. Results not guaranteed otherwise :)

1) Wolf Man at QB in shotgun
2) 3 WR bunch either side
3) 1 WR/RB other side

Option 1: Quick slant off of either side if coverage dictates
Option 2: Fade to bunch if coverage dictates
Option 3: Roll out and pick route to end zone
Option 4: If coverage bails to stop run, throw to open target

With things this spread out, and Wolford's speed and aggressiveness, this will score from inside the 3, 9 out of 10 times.

You're welcome.

To me, I feel like the line needs to get better push when we run it on the 1. That and we need a bug bodied reciver, think Higbee, to step up in the redzone.

If you want a nasty, grind out OLine...then you need to call those type plays.

This very same OLine beat up Tampa Bay and their DAINESE aint no pushover...so we know they can do it...just give them more opportunity at it.
