Receivers? That's a heck of a blanket statement. Woods and Kupp will fight for anything and everything. Van seemed to pick his game up another notch. Higbee can make a play. So saying "the receivers" just aint fair.
The issue is Reynolds and Everett. Just dont make that extra effort. And that's why they'll be gone after the season ends

van gets alligator arms quite a bit also.

Geez did Gerard Everett piss in everyone's coffee? Lol.

As to the topic it is what it is. The backup TE and 3rd WR are JAGs.

Tough crowd.
Just finished some game review so I'm fucking pissed at Gerald man. He had an epic bad game. The kind of game that should get him benched. It's not just that TD pass he flubbed. It's his complete lack of readiness for the ball to come his way.

First quarter Wolford took a shot to him and missed. But after review of the play Everett completely misplayed it. Receivers are expected to adjust under the ball in flight that's 101. He had plenty of time to adjust what he was doing and even then the ball was inside shoulder (probably due to the DB positioning). Even after running himself out of range he still got a hand on it. Just terrible IMO and it shows why Goff doesn't throw him the ball.

This is not an Elway or Mahomes type rocket it has air under it and Everett is tracking it. Its trajectory needs to be adjusted to at this point right now.

You're talkin a foot or so in catchable to uncatchable which would not have been a prob for a good receiver who can track a ball in flight, another thing that is simply uncoachable

I know, right? I am rewatching highlights of the first half and saw Everett go get two passes, Reynolds one and Woods another. They are inconsistent but they are not pussies.

Lmao I agree but it’s with Reynolds. Guys a fucking baller for a 3rd/4th WR. For a while he was our go to guy with teams double and triple teaming Kupp on 3rd and crucial downs.

Maybe I’m about to be a hippocrit (why my phone not spell this right?) lol but I can’t stand watching Everett anymore. Guy is pissing me off, but Reynolds, come on the guy is a solid 4 and a pretty good 3.

Kupp is 22 Woods 24 in yardage this year. 11 and 13 in receptions respectively.

Woods 29 (6) Kupp 87 (3) in TDs

There is room for improvement.

We need a more physical presence... A guy that can stretch the field as well. A Claypool type would be great, but not easy to find.

I don't think either not want to get the ball. They're just not consistent at it. Both have shown flashes that they can make that play. Yesterday, I think Everett had the yips and got in his head after the first few misses. It happens, Kupp had the yips in a game earlier this season.

With that being said, we can use someone that can make that play more often, like a Hopkins or Adams. That can be addressed next year, but of the receivers we have on our team, IMO the person we should be targeting deep is Woods. Defenders will fall for his double moves since he's good at short and intermediate routes, and he has more breakaway speed than Kupp. He's shown the ability to adjust in the air, like on that sideline catch, and he drew that holding call when he blew past Peterson.

kupp missed the last game however... plus some of their lack of stats is the qb play and the play calling.

also if you take into account rushing yards both were over 1000 total yards... most top recievers dont rush the ball at all - soooo

I just picked that play out of many this year because it was so blatant. At the very least he could have jumped back through the defender to get the PI.

I mean OK. Not the end of world?

Part of the scheme with McVay so yes they get a few yards rushing.

I’d throw that out in a heartbeat for someone like Adams, AJ Brown,Thelien. Hell the hags had 2 guys over 1000 and double digit TDs.

Yesterday I watched Everett on a deep ball down the sideline waiting for the ball instead of going after it. That allowed the defender to get in and break up the pass.

Our WRs and TEs don’t seem to have that mean streak to really battle for contested balls like they own it.

I know you can teach them to high point the ball but they have to want it and go get it.

I want a room full of bad asses who are smart and can run routes. I know they don’t grow on trees but the Rams need more attitude on offense.

Draft rule number 1 don't select athletic projects in first three rounds.
Draft rule number 2 don't force a pick for position of need

Taking raw athletes early always has a chance of working out but too often it doesn't. Everett was as much about projection as he was position. Meanwhile the Niners get Kittle in round four, and Seattle got Dissly in round four.

I always felt that the Everett pick was a bit forced. I loved his athleticism but he's got too many holes in his game.

The strange thing is our WR’s are great outside the red zone.

If we could just punch it in the last few games things Wouldn’t look so bad offensively.

From watching film of our goaline runs I believe the problem is not only some weak Oline man but terrible blocking by Higbee and Everett along with our formation calling form Wr blocking. Jefferson was useless last game and actually nearly all our TE and WRs are garbage at the goaline.

We need to go big or go home.

Stack the Goaline with your biggest lineman in a double TE set. Then hand the ball to Greg Gaines behind Whitworth and Edwards.

It’s not rocket science. Asking Higbee, Everett, Reynolds and Jefferson to block is asinine.

You don’t have to have the fierce attitude to catch a 5 yard route where you sit in a hole.
