Hey @hotanez

Your time is too precious to discuss why you disagree so you just repetitively use the haha emoji as a smug button?
This isnt FB... and even there that's lame af. And its not just you. Everybody doing that sucks.
People talk about passive aggressive. This is passive -smugly laugh-in-your-face-without-giving-a- reply- aggressive.
I know I have done that very thing with the laugh and run on a serious post - and I feel like a little douchebag after doing it.
There are enough buttons we can use to disagree, or you can move on or give me a chill or a motherfucking inappropriate - all of those are less condescending and lame.

He wasn't disrespectful about.
Jesus Christ.
Character has never been a complaint.
I remember him busting his ass downfield blocking after he was fazed out.
When guys believe they are part of something and then get traded they have an emotional response about it.
Who doesn't.

He had just scored 10 tds and got a deal and then broke his wrist. He never didnt give effort.

Disagree. If he had the work ethic everyone talked about he would have at least become a fantastic slot option with sharp routes with that low center of gravity and change of direction advantage he has.

I think he's well suited in Dallas.

Your exactly right about my time. You have your view on it. Others see it differently. Stating hour opinion is cool and I have no problem with it. Saying others opinions are lame because their different is not. If me rating a post bothers you, all I can say is tuff. I will do what I feel like as long as I'm not breaking the rules here.

I think a guy can have all the want to and the physical talent - and still not have enough.
Some positions - maybe try hard and physically gifted can get you there.
Maybe not at WR, where hand eye coordination and split second processing might not be good enough.
If you thought he quit trying , there is no evidence of that. He worked hard. Thats why they paid him. He was scoring TDs for a team that really couldnt buy one. Then he broke his wrist.

I get it that you dont like him.
We can totally agree he was bad pick.
We can agree he was overpaid.

We are not going to agree that he is bad guy, low character or any of that - because for that, all you have is opinion. Thats cool with me.
But for me, I just think he was another all purpose jack of all trades/master of none (except punt return TDs being called back by guys nowhere near the play- he is the master of that) explosive athletes who for a myriad of reason didnt become the All Pro his hype demanded.
I dont hold that against him.
To each his own

Tavon always has and always will be about Tavon, and that is the biggest problem. He just never had it in him to grow his game. Perhaps getting traded humbled him, but it was far more than just needed. He doomed himself to gadget player hell with sloppy offensive work.

He is a shining example of exemplary natural talent without the drive to improve. If he had that he could have made himself into a somewhat respectable receiver and not just a returner with a few specialty gadget/misdirection plays on his plate. He made zero (perhaps even regressed) progress with his route running and separation ability, which was mind boggling for a player who made his name off being quick and sharp with his cuts.

The contract he was handed was under the assumption he would continue to grow and build upon previous seasons, and that just didn't happen. It wasn't all because the offense took a nose dive. You just can't pay a return specialist/gadget player that kind of money. Any of the skill players can fake an end around that will draw a defense's attention. I never understood why with all the dysfunction on the team he was one of the guys to get a pass.

I know it usually doesn’t work out like this. But imagine Hopkins on this team? Good lord.

The Saints (my team) draft was just as big an abomination. We drafted Kenny Vaccaro with our first pick. At least you guys were able to trade away Austin for something.

I was a huge Vaccaro fan coming out, actually wanted the Rams to grab him lol.

Yes, it still pains me that we could have just drafted Hopkins and not traded up for Austin. Our entire first round was bad, and we had 2 1sts.

And McVay had Gurley, Woods, Kupp and Watkins.
What did you expect from him in that scenario?

Hey, he was not an undrafted kid who made the team, he is a top 10 draft pick with a big contract, he can be expected to produce at the level of those guys.
Secondly, McVay in the first year spread the ball between WRs a lot, and if he sees talent, he will use it. Yes, he used Tavon for misdirections because Tavon is very fast, but when he gave him more it did not produce great results.

I said all that.

He was injured and the least useful piece to the offense and over paid.

What do you think I am saying about Tavon? That we should have kept him or that he was great?

All i have been saying is that he wasnt a bad person or a bad gadget/return guy and his only fault is being way overdrafted and later overpaid.

Nobody is saying "Tavon was the best" but there are a bunch saying he was the worst.
Its just not true.

Everyone has an opinion on the value or lack of value of Austin. Mine is he has limited skills and was overpaid and overdrafted. With that said I couldn’t disagree more with anyone who says he is a me first guy or a POS. I found him to be Professional and fairly humble in his diminishing role and eventual trade. A lesser man would have called out his teammates for all the penalties on his 6+ Returned TDs.

I wanted Hopkins so badly but then I’m a Clemson homer.

Yeah no worries disagreement is what we do quite a bit of here, doesn't bother me at all and in fact sometimes it is enlightening.

Better way to put how I feel re: Tavon... Rams moved up for him. Rams gave him every opportunity to be an impact player. Rams even paid him extremely well. Then, after he failed to step up and earn that paycheck he felt DISRESPECTED?

For him to say that is wrong. There should be a sense of loyalty there, where he acknowledges those things. And from that perspective I see him in an extremely negative light. Cheers my man.

Yeah, you guys traded away a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th for him and a 3rd rounder. But when you actually see who the Bills took with those picks (EJ Manuel, Kiki Alonso, Marquise Goodwin, Chris Gagg) it’s makes it harder to swallow, I mean Goodwin is doing well for the 49ers, and is essentially the same guy as Austin.
Yup. Or we could have stayed put and picked Cordarelle Patterson, who is about as good as Austin, and kept the other picks. Drafting is much easier five years later!
