Its been so long the Rams have had crappy O lines and finally last season they field a good one, I just hate to break it up.
Losing Saffold doesn't mean we'll have a bad line. We've drafted some the last few years and brought in guys Kromer and McVay like. Trust in the coaches, hell we may get an upgrade on him if we let him walk. Its been so long the Rams have had crappy O lines and finally last season they field a good one, I just hate to break it up.
Yeah - the whole injury history thing diesn’t really wash. Been injury free for awhile now. And
Frank Gore has an “injury history”, and I believe he’s still playing.
But neither is better than him. They are younger is all. I think for four years, he's better than either of them
Ever since he he had both shoulders fixed, he hasn't had any injury problems. Plus if you watched the Rams last year you seen a guy who was very effective in pass protection, and especially in the run game. He was manhandling people at the point of attack, and then moving on and demolishing defenders at the second level.
Really @jrry32! Did you read that? It states that Saffold came out of one game due to ribs and ankle problems, but he played in the next game. This happens to almost every lineman during the year. And yes he was on concussion protocol. It didn't say he had a concussion, and he didn't miss any game time due to it. Next time @jrry32 come at me with something that sounds like you understand the game of football and not this grasping at straws to back your unfounded point. SheeshThey're younger and will be cheaper to re-sign. Two good reasons to keep them.

He left multiple games with injuries last year, and I'm not going let our two younger guys walk to pay a 31 year old who has struggled to stay healthy. I don't care that he's had two relatively healthy seasons. It's a bad bet.
But they're not as good jrry, and breaking up an effective group that just started jelling is not very wise. Rams should keep this OL intact as long as its effective.

think positive, Dog! He'll take the hometown discount for that 2nd Super Bowl in a row!We keep Saffold if we can because he's a great asset.
I think though that we can't afford him.

When you keep turning over an OL and end up with cheaper 1st, 2nd or 3rd year players, you end up with an OL that constantly gets schooled by vet DLines. Take the Rams O lines before last year. Freaking clueless. Gurley had to fight defensive guys for the handoff. Goff could barely get the ball out of his hands without someone in his face. It takes years to learn all the tricks defenses use.
Things like "continuity" and "jelling" "knowing what the guy next to you can and can't do" are real for OLines to perform well.
Going the cheaper route you end up getting what you pay for.
I slightly have to disagree with you. Respectively he has played better under McVay, and honestly if I had to play for mediocre Fisher for so long, I would of been malingering too.Let Saffold walk. He's 30 years old with a long injury history. Try to keep Hav and Jamon.
