True Romance and Once Upon a Time...

...although the farm scene, and cellar bar scenes are two of the best ever (Inglorious Basterds)
The opening scene on the farm with the extended dialog between the farmer and Landa is my favorite and in my opinion one of the very best opening scenes ever.
I really enjoyed the stuff with Page talking about how he produced those albums. If you listen to a lot of music that year and then listen first two Zeppelin albums, it becomes clear really fast how far ahead of the time he was in using the studio as another instrument. And still, the live performances in the movie are just fucking epic, so much raw power. Those first two albums really presaged how different the 1970s would be from a musical perspective.
Yeah....Im going rewatch that Zepp doc more than a couple of time I think.
Agree with the studio stuff....really interesting.

Finally watched The Lives of Others, which takes place in East Germany when the Stasi spied on fucking everybody. You don't hate communists enough.

a few years back , ESPN did this series of documenters on Women in sports , one of the episodes was on Katarina Witt , the East German figure skaters who won the Olympic gold , in both 1984 and 1988

she talks about how the government would spy on here , bug her apartment , pay family , friends and neighbors to spy on her and report any suspicious going ons

Desertion of Olympic athletes , was a no , no

and she talked about how most all East German hated her , all thinking she was getting special treatment ,

by 19 she had her own apartment and car , and that was really frown upon , even though she won two gold metals , East Germans thought she should have been treated like everyone else

imagine putting in all that work to become a two time Olympic Champion and your own county resents you for it

It’s been beaten to death. After a few remakes, how many new ones can be interesting. I haven’t watched the last few Batman movies, predator, alien, Superman, etc….

The only series I keep watching is Jurassic Park, because I have always loved dinosaurs and want to see what new ones are in the movies. The stories are pretty much the same though.

Watched the new Superman this evening. 6 out of 10 for me. The story was very choppy and not well written. No issue with the actors. Liked the additions of Mr. Terrific and Metamorpho.

The politics in it were a little over the top for my taste.

I'm sure others will love it and think it's the greatest. Good for them.

I finally watched Joker 2 (can’t be bothered to type the full title) this evening.

It’s either the greatest film of all time, making us question our own sanity (à la Fleck), or utter shite.

As with all forms of “art”, it’s totally subjective.

Fantastic Four

7.5 /10

it's a really "good" movie

another Marvel movie , the 37th MCU film , thats crazy when you think about , some good , some not so good , this is one of the gooder ones

every time a new Marvel movie would come out, they would say , a Marvel movie like you've never seen before , and then you'd go see it , and , it was like every Marvel movie you'd ever seen before..................lol

they got me on this one , The Fantastic Four isn't like every Marvel movie you'd ever seen before , first , it takes place in a totally different universe , set in the 1960's

none of the stuff that has happened in the other 36 Marvel movies never happened here , this is a simple stand alone film where you don't have to know your MCU homework

there is alot of talking in this movie , not really a whole lot of action / Ben Grimm / the Thing is in as much as everyone else , but doesn't have much to do , Johnny Blaze / The Human Torch was my favorite

Yes , Reed Richards is the leader of the team , despite what you may have read , Sue Storm is the heart of the team

they mention it a few times in the trailer , but the heart of this movie , really is about family , the move it's self is pretty decent , maybe not great , but pretty decent

one thing it does do , is it sets up the characters , even though it wasn't an origin film , it was an introduction film , and does do a great job at that , and knowing we'll see alot more of these character as we know they will be showing up in Avengers Dooms Day , and from what I've read , Reed Richards will be the leader in Avengers Secret Wars

cant wait for Peter Parker and Johnny Storm to team up , you know it's coming

Happy Gilmore II - 10/10

The fact that they made it at all gets a 10, but I laughed throughout. Super awesome nostalgia hit for me....
