I believe that the quality of your OC and offensive staff can great improve the way your talent is showcased, so by that perspective I do think this group takes a step forward, all the holdovers that is. But I would not rank them among the best in the league, far from it. At best we will have an average corps of wideouts, and that's assuming Tavon steps it up.
Woods is an average wideout, excellent route runner, excellent work ethic. Spruce looks to be that type as well, at best he will be an average wideout who possesses the strong routes and work ethic many wideouts have made a career from. Coop same deal, more talent than Spruce, shiftier than Woods, bolder across the middle for a small guy, but at his roots a strong route runner with a strong work ethic. Definite trend here IMO, and fit.
Then you have Tavon out there rounding off routes, shortening the top to avoid contact, etc., as he tries to live off his athleticism still. Best case scenario he takes to coaching and becomes a legit downfield threat, decoy, and bubble screen terror. If that happens then we have one big play threat and multiple possession types. If not then we have multiple possession types.
So I'd say barring them hitting big time on the wideout position in the draft, we're looking at an average wideout group. Which is ok, btw. And something you can go a long ways with, as long as you have TEs or RBs that can contribute in the pattern a bit too. Since I happen to have high expectations for our TE position, in particular Higbee this season, I think we will have a very respectable passing game. I'm guessing somewhere from 22nd to 15th in the league, to go with a very good defense.
Oh and EDIT: I am not considering Gordon to even eat a roster spot. I'll be very surprised if that were to happen. That's a fan fantasy IMO, and something that you see on every teams' board too.
