Been mock drafting already and all those names have come up a lot. I like KW, would hate to change him and Kupp out in the same season but too many good backs in this draft that will fall to us. I would like to keep KW and let him compete for the starts with a draft pick or two.
It will be tough to find a back that can block like Kyren.

Tough to find a back that does many things Kyren does. Yes, I am frustrated with his fumbles, but this guy makes plays. You can go back to 2023 to see how poorly the offense functioned when he was out.

Many seem to forget that Kyren ran at a 5.0 YPC clip in 2023. We had many issues that made it more difficult for him to find running lanes this year.

Are we going to ignore the fact that Kyren was 6th in the league in BIG runs in 2023, and he only played 12 games???? He has this potential.

Letting Kyren go would be a mistake, period. Not all RB's are interchangable.

"I am not in favor of this. I also was not in favor of them not using Corum more for evaluation purposes. He could be every bit the back Williams is and we could grab a back very easily in this draft that is talented. Do not pay RB's a 2nd contract. I believe we have done that in the past and it was a big error. Use that money on CB, WR, or TE." - Flatlyner

I agree with Flatlyner.
Unless he wants to sign a very team friendly deal, I would thank him and let him go after 2025.

I think as Ram fans that only see KW and not many other RBs in the league, we need to look at others who rate NFL players to compare KW to other RBs.

Some in these forums don't like PFF - I do.
A second site that rates players well is S.I.S - Sports Info Solutions. Do those who dislike PFF, also blow off SIS?

In 2024, SIS rated KW 130th RB of 140 in the league (they rate all plays/players by EPA - Expected Points Added).
Their analysis says KW added (- 10) points to the Rams in 2024. Gibbs was +62 points!, Irving +47.
In 2023, they rated KW 20th of 147 league RBs, saying he added 15 points to the Rams in 2023. McCaffrey was +44!, Bijan +30.

In 2023, many of his yards came in 3 games vs. AZ (2) and WASH – the two worst run defenses in the league.

Some on this thread say KW is a good pass blocker - PFF rates him as a poor pass blocker.

Number of carries and yards gained are now seen by most as inferior ways of rating RBs.
KW's value has been based on his volume, again his best attribute - tough and able to take on lots of carries.
His size and NFL history of RBs, says this will probably not continue in the future – ’26, ’27, ’28 (next contract).

No disrespect to KW and total appreciation for his toughness and ability to take 316 carries and stay on the field, but there are numerous RBs (many in this draft) that can do what KW has done.

Remember, according to PFF, Ram RBs (KW) ran behind the 5th/6th best run blocking line in 2023/2024.

My eyes tell me KW is very tough, smart and seems to be a leader/good teammate, but is not as fast, quick or as good a receiver as numerous other RBs in the league. This year, 2! runs of over 18 yards in 316 carries! – nearly impossible.

And of course the fumbles.

Again, IMO, unless he wants to sign a very team friendly deal, I would thank him and let him go after 2025.

I don't care what these analytics say. Go revisit 2023, the games that Kyren was injured, and look at the performance of the offense.

Paying a running back big on a 2nd contract has historically proven to be a horrible decision. Kyren is a pretty damn good back, but special? I'll say that's where its extremely debatable. The dollar amount on that contract will be interesting if he's resigned. I for one don't think the Rams should break the bank for him. I'd rather see Corum get more run plus draft another back to see this year (not just games, but for coaches to see in practice and develop during the year) before committing to a 2nd contract for Kyren.

Speaking of RB contracts, I am curious if Barkley's agent asks the Eagles for a contract adjustment based on his season. His deal is not that big with little guaranteed past this upcoming year.

I hear you - it was pretty bad, but . . .

. . . vs. Pit (#7 rated D) Freeman went for 5.5 / carry - KW would not have done better
. . . at Dal (#5 D) Freeman went for 4.9 / carry - KW would not have done better - Havs out/Stafford out a half?
. . . at GB - Stafford out/Havs out/Rypien was QB, offense had no chance
. . . Sea - Freeman went for 4.3 / carry

It wasn't so much our RB was bad (Freeman did pretty well) - there were a lot of other factors. KW might have made a small difference?, but in the preceding 6 games of '23, he had averages of 3.5, 3.7, 3.8, 4.1, 4.1 and 7.9 (against AZ - worst run D in the league) per carry.
Not exactly great.

My point is KW does bring some very good traits to the team, but is limited in his abilities (explosiveness/receiving, etc.) compared to other RBs.
I would keep him on a team friendly deal only.
I would not sign him to a "big" contract for numerous years.
He can be replaced by others / a committee of others- especially with this year's draft if he wants too much.

Be smart to. However, Barkley did take a discount with the Giants to remain loyal to them. I think there may be a chance he may request a reasonable raise. Philly would be smart to give it to him. Without him, they would have never won a Superbowl.

Best of luck to them both, don't think the Rams give out that much.

I'm on the Bayshul Tuten hype train for the draft.
I like quite a few.... Ollie Gordon is interesting... has a Dickerson-like upright running style... not sure he can get away with that in the pros, but I would take him in the 3rd or 4th assuming nothing happens regarding an extension for Williams.

He's good too i just like the combo of speed and he doesn't go down easy with Tuten and he should be a 4th or late 3rd.
