Noteboom was never a ncaa starting OG . Rams org decision to not to have an legit NFL starter to replace Safford was the first crack of OL failure. It's evident to me that JN will never be a NFL OG unless there is an emergency.

2nd was the serious overestimated skills of OC Allen.

3rd was the same overestimated abilities of Blythe.

Who were the main administrative Ram personnel responsible? If I had been one of the main administrative people I would be forced to fire myself!
I suspect that what happened to the o-line was a calculated gamble to put cap money into the D, not the result of a clear green light by Kromer that he was totally happy about making do with these guys without Saffold or other reinforcements. In short, he may lost out in the pecking order to Wade last year. Things could have been different on the oline if we had spent money there instead of, say, signing Fowler.

I agree with the front office being wrong on talent level. Frankly, it makes our coaching staff look like dummies to have all these guys resting during real live action during pre-season...I know I know, they could have been injured...but how could we be so overconfident in these guys? Did they EVER have to block Donald, and Brockers in practice? None of this adds up for me. And then my last concern is when we are averaging over 4 ypc and whooosh, the running game is abandoned.
If I remember correctly Noteboom and Allen played a lot in the preseason.
I think it was just going with a plan that made sense but didn’t pan out. But, it still may long term.

I wonder if Everett could be converted to fb hback for added blocking and short yardage plays. this would save us having to spend a draft pick on a fb type player. after all brown is injury pron and Henderson is an unknown. this would also give us mundt and Higbee in line short yardage plays
I wouldn’t want to draft a FB.
I meant more of a power back.
But I think any of the TEs could fit that role.

Are you sure? I don't think a single player from the starters played a down in preseason.

You are correct. Obviously Noteboom & Allen practiced throughout camp, but they never played a single down during the actual pre-season games.

Not what I remember at all.
But, I’m probably wrong.
Might be mixing up my pre seasons.
It was dumb in hind sight.
But, that’s sort of how hindsight works.

You forgot to add Demby as the first depth guy. Which was just as criminal.

I think we will be looking to find a few new personnel people, ya know ones that can be leaned on to find OL in the draft. I predict 2 new scouts added. For what it's worth

Furthermore we need to say, we want to be a very physical team, and be aggressive adding said players to play that style. Be great at short yardage moving fwd. Improve the OL (Duh) but add another in-line blocking TE & a nasty FB to replace M. Brown and either draft another RB or give Kelly a shot as #3 RB on the depth chart

Went back and looked. None of the OL starters started in pre season. Some did get snaps later in games, but Havenstien or Whitworth never took one snap. Demby started every pre season game and took snaps at every position, including center. He was awful at all of them. It was apparent to me and a lot of other posters here that Edwards, Evans, and even Brewer were better guards than Demby. Noteboom goes down and in comes Demby with the same sorry results. Not until after the bye when Havenstien goes down does Edwards and Evens come in.

Makes me question Kromers coaching and talent evaluation.

Less than 10 months ago being now the top accending NFC team riding happy smug cocky and high and fresh off long beach resorts vacations with we got this tude........

The OL coach sure looked great early in 2017/18 when he had 3 veteran starting at LT/ LG and OC who had played at pro bowl level present and near past along with a high former 2 rd pick healthy upstart at RT.

In 2019 Rams were without those veterans OG and OC and was starting a now declining well aged past his prime LT, leaving only young veteran RT.

Rams game plan began early filling the holes with 2 untested zero starts new 4th rd OC and a 3rd rd pure LT retooled turned OG plus raw late last 3rd day draft picks or UDFA first yr players like Demby, Edwards, Kolone, Shelton and Brewer.

What could go wrong.

This makes perfect sense. Rams have not drafted the OL positions well at all in Snead's tenure. If Havenstein bounces back and our two young OTs play well that will change but still. I could definitely see an internal evaluation of their scouting of the big fellas.

As it should. Kromer took a huge black eye this season with the whole Demby thing. It was indeed clear in preseason that he couldn't play. Now if he was against resting Allen & Boom in preseason and told McVay that clearly, not to mention was on record behind the scenes that the Rams' approach was too risky, he might not be on the hotseat.

But I have a hard time believing that was the case. IMO it is more likely his ego led him to believe he could do anything with these guys and the NFL has a way of deflating egos. Also there is the problem of the run game coordinator duties, where Kromer looks like he's not up to snuff for a contender level team.

So to my eye at least... If Callahan joins this staff the Aaron Kromer era is over.

First degree feloney event or2nd degree crime?

What defense can McVay and Kromer use on this crime event against Ram fans?

Evans, Edwards, and Corbitt all got valuable playing time XP in 2019 and Brewer got some live game exposure as well. Noteboom and Allen also garnered valuable XP before their injures. Offensive linemen require more seasoning than most other positions so the good part of the equation is that all of the Rams young linemen now have real game XP and the Ram have much better idea of what those guys can really do. Blythe and Whiworth are FA's so even if neither return the Rams have some young ascending linemen to consider for their front 5.

Other than the Demby debacle, Kromer has done an excellent job with the offensive line. After the massive failure of previous regime's o-line coaching hires, any talk of moving on from Kroemer seems crazy. He is one of the better offensive line coaches in the league and the line stabilized well in the second half of the season despite starting 3 new replacements. Kromer may have had a blind spot for Demby but I think the Demby experiment is finished and he can move on with developing the real promising talent the Rams have along the line. Left tackle and center have to be sorted out but I feel much better about the guard situation and the seasoning all of the young linemen have gained in 2019.

I am not sure where all of the young guys are best fits but it nice to see that they have some pieces to move around and mold.

2020 line options:
LT- ?????/Noteboom/Evans/Brewer
LG- Evans/Edwards/Corbitt/Brewer
C - Allen/Corbett/Shelton
RG- Edwards/Evans/Corbitt/Brewer
RT- Havenstein/Evans/Brewer/Edwards

Rams OL never controlled the LOS. Not one game. That has to change. Cap #'s, player saleries is Demoff's area of expertise. Trade, restructure, draft, finagle, call Billicheat for advice.
Get it done before TC.

Rams GM believes Todd Gurley will bounce back despite a disappointing 2019 season
Gurley set career lows in rushing yards and total yards from scrimmage

Rams GM should talk to his head coach and playcaller. Gurley also set career lows in rushing attempts and aside from his rookie year, career lows in passing targets. That's not on Gurley nor the offensive line. let's make some improvements in play calling, OK? "bouncing back" sounds like it was Gurley's fault, it was not.

The Rams have come a long ways in the last 3years. I’m not sure about Noteboom??

-Allen was a joke of a pick imo from the beginning. I wanted to be wrong & still do. I believe he is a football junkie & really learned a lot from J. Sullivan.

Blythe is what I always thought he was, a solid backup center/guard. He is definitely a better center than a guard. That is why I thought Allen was a wasted draft pick. Then you have Sullivan as starting center again As a mentor.
Anyway Blythe held his own as a starting guard last season, but showed such weakness in the end.
—Firing ??? Mistake - yes !!! What a joke that The Rams thought

Whitworth,Noteboom,Allen,Blythe,and Havenstein Is Ridiculous !!

The worst is they kept them all covered up during the full preseason. Why Allen & Noteboom never saw reps during the preseason was beyond me.
