"What [Brocker's] flexibility allows you to do is maybe pick the best player, and not necessarily we have to have a nose tackle, but you can pick maybe the best five-technique," Snead said. "It does give you some flexibility, and it's looking like that's what we're going to do there."

"I do think because it's a good defensive line draft, our goal is to come out of the draft with probably a young defensive lineman," Snead told ESPN at the NFL's annual meetings in Phoenix. "That can happen, or guess what, I'll say there are 31 other enemies that may decide to hinder our vision."

At least Snead talked about the option of Brockers moving to NT.

Other than that he really didn't say much. Rams could go D Line after the first round pick or not. So the Rams and Snead didn't give any hints to what they are looking for with the first round pick. Lots of future needs coming up.

I was not high on the trade down thinking but, with all the future possible opening positions especially on defense trading down is a real good option. Still have to wonder about the D Line as it currently stands. The Rams first round draft pick could go in many directions.

I'm actually warming to the idea of Winovich at 31, but much more with a small trade down to the 2nd. He is fairly elite athletically and really someone who could contribute day one. Another option for me is Tillery. I think both of these players are being underrated and are 1st round talents.
Its all speculative at this point but projections for Winovich are late 2nd round to early 3rd.

I’m starting to fall in that camp of trading up to draft Wilkins. Starting to get that sold on him in ‘our’ defense. That’s the biggest weakness I see we have now... up the gut and AD can’t be everywhere all at once. Plug that hole with an athletic pressure machine.

I think Wilkins is overrated. There's a lot of dropoff IMO from a guy like Lawrence to him. Wilkins isn't a round one 3T to my eye, he's a round two or later type so if the Rams really want him I think he'll be there.

If some team takes him round one they're probably going to regret it IMO. I don't think he'll live up to that draft spot. He gets his pressure from consistent effort, and at the NFL level he's gonna be just a guy at 3T. Could he be a plus 5T? I don't know but I doubt it. I'm probably in the minority here but I wouldn't touch him round one personally.

Yeah he did but I'm not buying it. And I doubt other teams are either, so if Lawrence is there late 20s I'd be afraid someone will swoop in front of us and take him.

FWIW. PFF head to head alternating draft had the Rams taking Winovich. The grade everyone out so they must of gave him a high grade. They also had Tillery going ahead of Winovich. I think there are going to be some surprises come draft day. If Tillery got his act together he could be a pro bolw player type.

Lets hope this does happen & the teams interested in attaining our first round pick are many:sneaky:.

Snead has a plan for sure. It could go many ways. I can’t see him trading up though for just one player ?

That’s almost a given anyway, just by how he is rated in the draft.

The DL draft of 2019 is very deep, Sneed has time to wait. Those comp picks are huge though.

I guess it's time to look at what teams in the 20's will be looking for and teams after the Rams. ESPN radio had Kiper and McShay on saying that there is a lot of value in the 30-46 pick range. Snead seems to have good handle on who other teams are taking. We aren't going to know what he Rams want until the draft.

Yeah no doubt. It's going to be a little crazy, don't think I'll watch round one until we get to the 20th pick tbh. One thing's for sure though... Someone of very good value will drop to us. When you consider maybe 4 QBs go before we're up and the general quality of defense and OL leading up to our pick we should get a player they covet. And if not, then sure move down so some team can overdraft a QB there at 31 or whatever.

But back to Lawrence, barring him having some sort of BS behind the scenes that the team knows about, or a terrible interview with the team or whatever, I have to think he is a slam dunk coveted option for Snead. I really like both Wren and Saunders as NT options for us too, but if we can come out of round one with Lawrence I'm gonna be doin effin backflips. :p

Need video clips of the back flips. But I’m with you on Lawrence, guys a beast. Best I have to offer though is my back slips.

Yeah you definitely wouldn't want to see it lol. Maybe backflips is too strong a word. :ROFLMAO:

But anyway the difference between the top teams and the others in this league are the difference making type players. McVay already mentioned they want explosive players, and depending on the position that obviously means different things, but obviously to sit back and say "they will not trade up" is silly. Because if there's a guy that the Rams think is a difference maker falling into their range, they're gonna at least attempt to move up for him and it's worth it if it nets you a guy you are confident will be a future Pro Bowler in your scheme vs a guy who comes with more questions.

A guy who comes with questions you have to wonder could this really be a we not me guy? A lot of it has to do with the type of questions he has about him. But when that in of itself is the deciding factor, then it’s a no brainer.

But who am I to say any thing, because the one thing I’ve figured out about Snead and McVay when it comes to free agency and the draft, expect the unexpected. I’m thinking DT, then Oline, then LB then DB.
But watch us get a TE and WR and RB. But whatever they do it’ll somehow work. Just not as well as I would’ve made it work.

Oh you have to watch the first round. Lot's of possible surprise moves and picks.

Agree if Lawrence checks out I think he is what the Rams need. No back flips for me. Internet high five!
