I wouldn’t mind a stud linebacker with the first pick. It’s the one piece the defense is really missing.

I recall a few years ago McVay really likely Owusu-Karamoah. So maybe they are more open to it than we think.

King really improved in his final season. Some people may be cool on him because he’s a late bloomer, but the real reason his game got so much better is coaching. PSU great LB Dan Connor joined the staff as an assistant and the entire unit started to play better. King isn’t much of a pass defender but he can play the run.
Yeah agree and he doesn't have the speed to be a great pass defender but he it almost elite against the run, plays very disciplined, disrupts rushing lanes, brings the wood and could be the green dot if needed.

Basa would be the 3rd or 4th round guy if I wanted a cover guy

Shutdown corner?
I think to get an instant shutdown corner in the draft, a team either needs to get lucky, or have a top fifteen pick.

I wouldn’t be disappointed if they took a corner with a bit of length.

I have a bad feeling that they are going to roll with Forbes and we will be screaming at him to tackle someone every game. Forbes has good coverage skills.

Or a player who should have gone in the top fifteen but has fallen.
Please Will Johnson or Barron! I know its 0% chance but, how good would Hunter be on this team? A shut down corner with Jefferson-like WR skills that McVay can use in a pinch.

Hang on…

You wouldn’t take anyone, no matter how talented, with a history of injuries before the fifth round?

What about Gurley?
Nope. I didn’t want them to pick Gurley, even though I loved his ability. In the end his injury may have cost the Rams that 2018 Super Bowl, because he wasn’t in it.

They drafted two guys from Alabama that had injuries and neither amounted to much. It’s too much risk.
