The Los Angeles Rams have put themselves into position to be one of the better teams in the NFC once again after making a surprising run to the postseason last year. Within this, Los Angeles has changed how they do things and it resulted in success on the field.
However, there are still areas that the Rams still lack. One of those seems to be in the food area of the team.
Earlier this season, the annual NFL Player's Association survey came out which ranks different metrics within organizations. Six teams scored below a C letter grade in terms of food and cafeteria, including the Rams.
"The Rams were one of six teams to get below a C in the food and cafeteria category, ranking 31st overall in food taste and 28th overall in food freshness. According to Zorn, part of that is because of the Rams' setup: trailers on the campus of California Lutheran University. While that was intended to be a temporary facility, it has lasted eight years."
Los Angeles is moving to Woodland Hills soon which should help the ranking next season. The Rams never wanted Cal Lutheran to be a permanent spot for them but things worked out the way they did.
If the move to Woodland Hills works out well, the Rams could jump up the ranking in the survey next season. The team has taken the approach of making diets more of a priority and they believe it will help translate to more winning on the field.

Each NFL team has a number of things to consider is one of those things is food and nutrition for their team. Apparently, Avila feels that the Los Angeles Rams are doing a better job with the food they are serving season. I have no idea so I am just going off the ESPN article listed below. If Avila says he feels like the team is putting more of an emphasis on food, then I guess it’s true!
What are your thoughts? Do you think LA is going to serve up some better food and some wins this year? Please comment on whatever you want. Have a great Friday and thanks for checking out Turf Show Times!

Best and worst NFL diets: Rams, Bengals, Dolphins dish it all (espn.com)

“Los Angeles Rams center Steve Avila said he noticed his team putting an emphasis on serving higher-quality and better-tasting food this offseason, a change from last year.
“If you don’t like the food, not a lot of people will eat here,” Avila said. “So I’ve been a part of teams [in college] where people, if they don’t like the food, they’ll just go to McDonald’s or something.”
And while some players can invest in their bodies year-round using personal chefs and nutritionists, not all players can afford it and rely on teams to provide those services, especially during the season.”

Damn that’s really bad, you try and do EVERYTHING to put these guys in a position to game and win and you serve them shit.

Hell even in the Corps you got good chow for all the shit and half ass Vietnam equipment you were issued.

The whole training at Cal Lu in temporary facilities for years, has been the equivalent of living out of a suit case at a hotel, and having to eat at the hotel coffee shop IMO. Hopefully the permanent facilities in Woodland Hills will mean upgrading the whole player experience.

Uh... yea... it's called eating for function, not taste. Avila said most guys will hit up McDonald's instead of eating their food. Are we to think the the Rams are serving food WORSE than McDonalds? No. It just shows that these athletes have the palate of a toddler and don't want to eat what's gonna be better for their health and eat for mouth pleasure.

I am not downplaying what I don’t know, but I can’t help but wonder how “bad” it really is?

And now Vietnam is a destination and quite beauteous with outstanding culinary options.
I actually want to go there one day in the near future.

What i meant by this is when I went in in 1999 there was a surplus of 25 year old plus of Vietnam gear that we were issued and in the fleet. Compared to what they have now to what we had that first wave in Afghanistan is night and day.

Food was still not bad!

Lima beans and ham was the worst "C" ration meal. Next was the chili-mac from the mess hall.

It seems the Rams were marked down low because food is not made “on site”. I don’t think that’s a big deal honestly. But it’s good this is changing with the new site.

Really? They get paid millions to play and they eat McDonald’s? I would have thought nutrition was an essential part of the college and NFl program. You are what you eat.
