Yeah, I'm thinking in 2020 when Goff's salary goes way up, the Rams would have Donald and Mack and Goff and Gurley and Cooks and a bunch of 6th rounders for depth.

Actually, the way contracts were done meant that new contracts replaced old ones.

However, if they don't rework Goff, but simply extend him in such a fashion that his cap hit in 2020 doesn't materially change from what it would be based on it being his 5th year option, then it's possible the Rams could sign Suh for his current rate for 2 more years after this one.

I'm so impressed with this FO now.

The way they're managing the cap is f'ing fantastic and if we can keep drafting like we've been lately, this team is gonna be good for a long time.

Suh will be gone after this season, before Goff's 2020 cap hits even enters the discussion.

I know there were false reports that OTC had the cap room for 2019 at $59 million (bizarre, since last week they had it at $49 million). The website owner came out on Twitter today saying that it would actually be $30 million. That is more in line with Spotrac's totals, which are just over $29 million with Donald's extension. Both of them NOT including Havenstein's extension for some reason. Spotrac does include the additional approximately $4.6 million for the renegotiations of this past week. Realistically, with room for the practice squad and leaving some room for injury replacements in 2019 (and Havenstein) about $20 million or less in cap room, including space to replace Suh, Joyner, Saffold, Jamon Brown, various backups such as Shields, Wilson, etc. How would the Rams fit $14 million per year to resign Suh?

Oh, and in 2020 they need to resign or replace Brockers and Peters, among others.

we are pretty much not in the running for anyone for years to come.

its not whom the rams are in the running for (free agents), its WHAT they are in the running for (super bowl). after a decade plus of horrific football management, i'll take it.

If I knew how, I'd apply for a job with the Rams. I'm kinda surprised they made this much work.

I realize the numbers would be tough, but this FO has already shown its ability to be creative.

So, I dunno, but I believe.

Here's the Rams pitch to Mack- We can't give you a raise, in fact, if you could take a paycut it would help. What we can do is offer you a tremendous shot at a Superbowl, Strahan's sack record, and unrestricted free agency after obliterating the record books.

Oh. And a week one matchup against the Raiders. Just think it over.

My thoughts exactly. He would get Barrons salary and all of what you promise along with, a promise to hit free agency at season's end. So a one year Superbowl run before heading to some bad team with tons of cap space.

Risk/reward? Yes, he could get injured before ever getting to free agency. So, he likely doesn't do it, but if he moves on to a bottom feeding team he likely never sniffs the big game.

It would have been the new fearsome foursome. Donald, Suh, Brockers, Mack. I just jizzed dreaming about it.

No thanks. I’ll take a $150 million guaranteed. Than every day will feel like winning the Super Bowl.

NFLN was discussing who was in the mix this morning. First, they made no mention the Rams were one of the six teams really pursuing Mack, so I don't believe Trotter's tweet. My guess is Snead made a call, and the Raiders told him we need two No. 1 picks, so Snead said thanks, but no thanks. Second, they also mentioned the Raiders wanted Mack out of the Bay Area, so if that was true the Whiners had no chance of getting him.
