how did the Rams do him dirty? He wasn't doing the job he was hired for so the team let him go.
He's no Anthony Rendon!

LOL sorry bro couldnt help myself. I'm an Angels fan and I'm still miffed at how teams are forced to pay players to NOT do their job.

Would you take a slightly-used, mostly-paid-for Nolan Arenado for an okay prospect or two?

What I see in Mevis, well he is chunky and his leg does not come up very high like other kickers. Not too flexible .
Has this short motion but has a lot of power.
I think that short motion might make him less prone to the yips. Less to go wrong so to speak.
Just see it and kick it. Seems to be working.

I like this! As good as Mevis has been with his abbreviated play time, Karty is potentially more valuable. Karty has already demonstrated that his 'knuckleball' kickoffs can be a weapon. If he can successfully compartmentalize his techniques for kickoffs, PATs, and FGs of all lengths, he can really evolve into an overall kicking threat.
Shouldn't a field goal kicker that was making $1mil a season be able to already compartmentalize his job? For that money he should already be evolved.

Oh really? How many kickers have you seen that excels at kickoffs, FGs at all reasonable distances, PATs, and onside kicks? I have seen very little, so your statements makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Jeff "Money" Wilkins, who kicked for both the '9ers and the Horns, was hands down the very best onside kicker I have ever seen. I have never seen another kicker who provided his team with legitimate opportunities to recover kickoffs than him. He was also such a clutch FG kicker that Mike Martz gave him the nickname, "Money." I still consider him to be the best overall kicker the Horns ever had.

How many kickers do you know who is in Jeff's league as an solid overall kicker? From my perspective, there is hardly any. My point was that Karty has been solid with his knuckle ball kickoffs, solid with his FGs/PATs when he is in rhythm and not being plagued by the 'yips.' The only thing he has yet to show is his ability to master onside kicks.

All I know is he cost us two very important games....

For all I care Karty can take his mental hopscotch to the practice squad or another team to iron out.... We have a new kicker and I'm riding that train to the end of the season.

Money doesn't stop anyone from being human. Yips is essentially anxiety, and that's a problem money can't solve. Sometimes it makes it worse.

If the Rams were 100% sold on Mevis, they wouldn't be trying to salvage Karty.

I like the fact that Snead made the move to improve the kicking situation before it cost the Rams anymore games. I like the fact that this team is willing to make in season adjustments when needed and not just sit on their hands. This is one reason the Rams are a winning organization, and it starts at the top with the GM.

I go back and forth on that. But if it's not for a ton, yes. I think he's better than any option we have right now even at the tail end of his career.

I'll take a minor league prospect with potential for him. Would add a lot of money on our end to make it easier, pay for a lot of the contract.

Think a team will sign him if the Rams PS feel that they have no use for him. He has so much promise don't get me wrong. But really wonder how he would do with McQuaide now doing the LS? Maybe not having the yips.
Onto Mevis as yes he is a bit chunky and could be do to lifting weights. But really he is straight ahead kicker and plus really quicker. Think they will ride him through the rest of the season and the playoffs.
He has to yet miss a FG.
